DateLine is a small, simple app which displays a linear calendar on your desktop in a transparent window. It provides easy access to iCal by double clicking on a day. The background element colour is customisable with support for transparency.
CODEXMACHINA 0.81 was mistakenly released with the 0.8 bundle version. 0.82 fixes this issue. (Version 0.820)

DONEBYLEE Since posting the above comment I have had an email exchange with the developer and I was impressed with his responsiveness and professionalism.
As his reply above states, the versioning problem was fixed and I am a happy Dateline user.
One minor issue which the developer is working to fix--but which should be pointed out here--if you select the Desktop option in the Window Level menu (Preferences/Appearance) you will not be able to access Dateline except immediately after launch.
To fix this choose the Desktop Icons option. (Version 0.820)

ERIC WOEHLER Can recommend this app to all. Try it and it is likely that you will keep using it. The developer is very responsive - I reported a bug and within a couple of hours on a Sunday afternoon, I had tried a couple of test versions and we had solved the bug. How many developers can you say this about them? I have paid the small fee for the additional use. Recommended! (Version 0.800)
SONNENDECK Nice app! But in this version the app is always located on the bottom of the screen when you start your mac new. Before, it was possible to locate the app where ever you want. May be, the developer could change this. And: An option to start the week on monday (not only on sunday) would be nice. (Version 0.800)
CODEXMACHINA This issue is fixed in 0.820. Thanks for your feedback! (Version 0.820)

CODEXMACHINA To start the day on Monday, you need to go in to iCal Preferences, and switch the"Start week on:" preference at least once. So, if it's on Monday already, switch it to Sunday then back to Monday. then quit iCal so it writes it's preferences to disk, and relaunch DateLine. you should now have the week dividers appearing in the correct location. TOD WICKS I do indeed like this app, especially the ease of setup and the control over the opacity.
I echo the sentiment of earlier commenters: Please add the time, perhaps next to the month text. (Version 0.800)
SESQUIPEDALIAN In order to try out the "advanced features" like showing iCal events, one has to pay $4.95. There doesn't appear to be any possibility of testing these features before paying.
1) How does that qualify as a "fully functional" beta?
2) That means this app is shareware, not free software. The license info on this listing should be changed to reflect this. (Version 0.800)
ALEXIUSCA give 'em a break - MU just hasn't updated the listing. (Version 0.800)

SESQUIPEDALIAN Well, actually the developer is responsible for setting the license type of the software. MU double checks things, which is a valuable service, but it is not MU's responsibility. (Version 0.82)

CODEXMACHINA DateLine is now listed here and on our site as Shareware. There was a period for about 24 hours after release of 0.80 where MU still listed the old license terms. This has now been updated by the admins at MacUpdate. (Version 0.820)

CODEXMACHINA To be clear, the unlockable Advanced preferences first appeared in 0.80. Previously DateLine was freeware, and had no requirement for registration to access any feature, since the first Public Beta in 2004. (Version 0.820)

ERIC WOEHLER Love it! Would like to see time added to display. Please consider adding time to this wonderful little app. (Version 0.64)
SANOOK Very nice display of the current month. Developer is very responsive - I sent an email asking about an option to change the font; got a quick reply and it is now an option (ver .63). If you want a calendar view that is a bit out of the ordinary (along a line rather than week by week), this is a good way to go. Source code is also available to those able and willing to tweek even more. Only thing I'd like to see would be vertical orientation (I somehow remember that it is possible, but can't figure out how to do it). (Version 0.63)
SBCHAVEL Beautiful, convenient app. Could use further features, such as customizable view, e.g., vertical vs. horizontal; drop down from menu bar; pop up ical data on customized key combo rather than double click to open ical. (Version 0.63)
