DESCRIPTION
App Stop is a powerful application engineered to allow you to take control of the applications running on your computer, increasing the speed of your computer. App Stop allows you to peform many operations on your applications such as pausing, setting processor priority, and force quitting. App Stop is great for people with slower computers, or for people who run processor hungry applications (such as video editors), who need to squeeze every ounce of speed out of their computer.
WHAT'S NEW
Version 2.1:
  • Priority slider now increases priority when moved to the right, and decreases when moved to the left
  • Improved Application Manager UI
  • Updated preferences to look and work more like Safari & Mail.app's preferences
  • When items in the menu-bar list are paused they are now colored red instead of displaying "(Stopped)"
  • Added 'All' filter criteria
  • Less frequent nagging for demo users (every 2 days)
  • Improved crash/bug reporting (now outputs stack traces and notifies user of exceptions)
  • You can now specify a global shortcut that can be used to bring the Application Manager forward
  • Improved 'hide and stop' reliability
  • Your filter criteria will now be preserved between App Stop startups
  • Totally rewrote the 'startup at login' code
  • Fixed a bug where the menu item would remain in 'paused state' when an application that was paused was killed
  • Major memory usage enhancements
  • Minor performance enhancements

ZANGIEF  Does anyone still have the old free version? I don't have $15 for this, and I don't care if it's out of date, either.

ZANGIEF  That's something... a double-submit so slow that the second one comes in after the reply. Awesome.

GHHCYBERUS  I just downloaded this application. I get a message that tells me my 30 day demo is over, and I need to make a purchase. What is this?

CORTLAND  I still have the freeware version on my computer. It's not a bad app, though now that I have a faster G5, I don't use it.

ZANGIEF  Not to be a bother, but mind sending it to me? I can't find it anywhere after FWM pulled it.

ST00P!D M0NK3Y  Yes. I pretty much removed it off my computer because of the incessant nagging asking me to pay during the entire 30 day trial period (EVERY TIME I TURNED ON THE COMPUTER!). It only took a few days of that nonsense to give up on this app. The annoying nagging of the trial period is really unnecessary.

AQTINC  This app is a great idea. As someone that runs Virtual PC and Parallels, there are times when it would be nice to suspend a CPU-hungry Windows job running in the background.

Yeah, I know that you can set that preference in both VPC and Parallels, but this app is for those times when you didn't know what you were getting into and then want to override your preferences.

I hope the UB issues can get resolved soon.

LUHMANN  Web site says it has Universal Binary support but is untested. I don't know if this is an intel issue or not, but it quits on launch on my intel MacBook...

I love the app on my G5! I hope it can be fixed.
