DESCRIPTION
DeepTrouble 2 is the exciting sequel to our original and popular action game DeepTrouble. This time the underwater aliens are fiercer than ever. As the most experienced pilot of the Excalibur '7' series fighter and reconnaissance craft you are tasked with uncovering the dark secret of the underwater aliens and their colony-world. The many different types of enemies will put your combat and strategic skills to the test as you navigate deeper through dangerous underwater passages and enemy territory.

DeepTrouble 2 features 11 levels with gorgeous and detailed graphics made possible by the use of OpenGL's vertex and fragment shaders. Bump mapping, dynamic shadows and other advanced techniques add to the highly detailed graphics. OpenAL is being used to bring out great sound effects that will immerse you into the game together with the suspenseful music.

NINJABOY  I gave this game another chance and still feel so disappointed that CodeBlender - who in the past have produced some good games - have made a big mistake with DT2.

Perhaps I've got it wrong, but when I play games I want to be entertained, to experience thrills, fun, or adventure. CodeBlender have obviously lossed the plot and do not consider this important, or even essential ingredients to good games.

I fully support the comments BRETTD made below about this disastrous game and reiterate the comments I made previously about why go to the effort of producing what could potentially be a great game if seasoned, or even less-experienced, gamers are only going to see less than two minutes of game play before being hopelessly out-numbered, out-gunned, and out-manoeuvred.

What a waste! Not worth the download. Not worth the fee. Forget this.

    *½...

BRETTD  An Aquanox wannabe with twitchy, unadjustable controls, a horrible view/camera system, no documentation/hints/getting-started mode, an infuriating save system, and enemies that half the time you can't see before they instantaneously blow you bits.

If you like the premise (underwater rover/fighter, exploration, et al), go buy a yesterday's-news PC ("top of the line" from 2000-2002 should be fine) and track down a copy of Aquanox; it's a thousand times better done, with really nice music and graphics that blow Deep Trouble out of the water (seriously. It's breathtaking) and an actual plot line.

The control system is horrendous (you don't even get sensitivity adjustments and it is very twitchy).

There are absolutely no explanations about how to use even the one weapon you're given when you start. For example, are your torpedos fire and forget? Will they home themselves onto new targets? Nope! But nowhere will you find that mentioned.

The water is so cloudy you can't see enemy ships until after they've fired at you. Some are apparently equipped with weapons that are impossible to see/avoid; on the first level, I couldn't even tell why my ship kept exploding. The view is, for some incredibly stupid reason, fixed in 3rd-person camera mode, and the camera is ALWAYS putting the view of the ship in the way of where you're going or what you're (trying) to shoot at.

Your shields arbitrarily stop/start "recharging". They seem hopelessly underwhelmed compared to the first "baddies" you meet. You have no way of telling where incoming torpedos are coming from. It's damn near impossible to aim/get a lock on enemy ships.

SWORDFISH  Maybe it's too hard to understand that the shield stops recharging when you are hit? or that it recharges when you are not hit for some time? You have a strange definition of "arbitrary".

Near impossible to get a lock? Maybe it's time to admit you suck at video games? I get a lock 90% of the time playing the game at the hardest setting...

NINJABOY  This is far too hard for less-experienced gamers. Why bother to develop a game that such a player is only going to see less than 5% of before being out-gunned, out-numbered, and out-maneuvered by enemies that move so much more faster?

Version 1 was way more fun, great fun to play, and immensily enjoyable for many hours.

This is only for hard-core gamers. A big turn-off !!

ANONYMOUS  Only the demo will take you to the dev web site. And if you don't like the game and won't play it, it should not make a difference.

And if you want to buy it, you conveniently get the web site up.

ANONYMOUS  There is nothing wrong with giving me a link to click on when the game is done. However, forcing me to the website is a bit PUSHY!

    ***..

ANONYMOUS  1) It is quite annoying that when you exit the game it brings you to the website of this developer. For that reason alone I had to come back here and rate your game.

    2) The controls are unlike most games IE. Where is the use of firing from LMB or RMB or MMB. I personally do not like using the keyboard to fire a weapon. Secondly how many games out there do not make use of the mouse as a firing button?

    3) The graphics are good. Although they could have some better lighting effects.

    4) The sound is clear but gets old fast.

    5) Overall I must give this game a poor rating. I do not like being forced to any developers website and for that I will rate this game based on that action you seem to be ok imposing on me.

ANONYMOUS  It's more applicable to have the post-game information INSIDE the game, rather than having it do random stuff on your system. It's just common sense HID/GUI design.

PAUL DUNLOP  The first version of this game was awesome. I wish I'd bought it a while ago. It's awesome to see version 2 has finally made it. I highly recommend everyone try this game out. I'll be buying my copy later today!
