DESCRIPTION
PowerCADD users design and create houses, malls, apartments, flute & piccolos, toys, pipe organs, furniture, fonts, machinery, refrigeration units, theater lighting, trade show exhibits, technical documentation, brochures, maps & subdivisions, just to name a few. And the one thing they all have in common is they are creative and want to do it their way, not the computer way.
WHAT'S NEW
Version 7.06:

Apple's latest Operating Systems make the 7.0.6 update Mandatory.

Changes:

  • Added an optional setting in the Print Dialog under PowerCADD settings to print dimmed layers using a gray pen pattern instead of using transparency. This feature may be of assistance when printing to Postscript devices that have quality or time issues when using transparency.
  • Stability and compatibility with System 10.5.x (Leopard's) "Spaces" feature improved.
  • Attribute menus will no longer grow as objects are pasted into to a drawing with the "Global Attributes" feature is enabled.
  • Compatibility with certain older hatch definitions has been improved. Crash fixed.
  • Some of the attribute menus (lines, arrows, dashes) could under some circumstances grow incorrectly and beyond their allowable range causing command problems and in some cases instability. This issue has been addressed.
  • Drawing that have acquired too many dashes experienced a problem where the dash editor would crash with no method to remove the excess dashes. The dash edit dialog will always allow removal of dashes.
  • REQUIREMENTS
Mac OS X 10.3 or later.

JCARCHT  PowerCadd 7 is loaded with new features, among these scalable hatches, transparencies, shadowing, and new windows to make the interface easier.

It runs at about the same speed as PowerCadd 6.

There is a bug with the transparency feature that occurs when you try to duplicate an object with transparent attributes. but as soon as this is fixed, or I otherwise find out what I did wrong, I'll upgrade.

    I really like this program.

ANONYMOUS  As an architect Powercadd was and is the quickest and easiest cad package available at a bargain price - ok theres no 3D but I never use that what I need is to produce 2D drawings that effectively communicate my intentions to other quickly. Previous comments mentioned VW use Powercadd solely for two weeks and you never go back to Vectorworks, I can't remember the last time I launched VW now. Ace product pity for european users they make us use dongles though.

ERRORLOG   It took me forever to download this just to find out that is just a bit less complicated to learn than CADintosh. Obviously, it is possible to make a very complex mechanical drawing with it - but how do I do that? VW's is still 12 light years ahead of all of these. Seems very proffesional and very complicated. No built-in help, all docs are online.

AUTOJC  Only thing that's nutz about this great drafting program is that it is not OSX native!

ANONYMOUS  PowerCadd _is_ OS X native. Just because it's a Carbon app doesn't mean it isn't native.

It's a great application, that has been around forever, from a company that knows its stuff in this arena.
