HANDYCAM  Stay away from this one.

Development has ceased. No new updates in a year or so. No news. Check out the forums on the web site, filled with irate users.

It doesn't matter what else you choose, but not this app.

ARGLBORPS  Since I only have an older PPC model on which the application just crashes, I couldn't test it properly for a long while.

I now tested it on an intel Mac and while I think this app is very promising and will probably be sued to oblivion by Adobe, because it is almost a 1:1 copy of Photoshop, I have my problems with it being so completely alien to OS X that I can't use it in its current state.

I might as well us GIMPshop, because that's a free graphics editor that also feels somewhat like Photoshop but doesn't feel like an OS X app either.

If you want to win over the Mac crowd make this an app that looks and feels like a good OS X citizen otherwise you won't have much luck on this platform.

HENRIKTEKNIK  While this all sounded like a promising application, I found it to be *way* too complicated for me to install a trial version and run it. In fact, I gave up, as it demand that I install a lot of extras that doesn't even exist. (The Darwinports thingy wasn't there on the aforementioned link.)

While being temped to rate this according to my (short) experience with this program, I would find it pointless to rate something which leaves me left with a visual impression ranging from non-existent to none... except for an application icon.

Please make this a MAC application :)

As an aside (the product probably doesn't deserve it, but) it *does* look very promising and all, yet alas the hassles of getting it to *work* would surely leave any inquirer stuck in the door, so to speak.

I'm sorry for my scepticism. And I'd be happy to deny my current opinion, should I evaluate a smoother revision sometime in the future.

****.

M-RICK  For me it is very stable on my both PPC and Intel Macs.

Intel demo supports PNG, both demo versions will be updated soon.

The developper told me also it will be more integrated in Mac OS X for next releases, not done yet because it is cross platform, and Mac needs a special development for that, but planed anyway.

missing localization.

At this price, it is a better software than photoshop elements or GIMP, and accessible. i think some comments should remain reasonable compared to the price and the available functions and the ease of use.

Wait for the Mac OS X desktop integration and we will see.

"

new versions for MacOSX, both PPC and Intel can open/save PNG files.

These are available for customers for now, but new demo version should

be available shortly.

I'm planning to add native Menubar for MacOSX, but since you know Pixel

is cross-platform this is another difference I have to handle on Mac.

There is a preview when you open files, simply expand the File open

dialog by clicking on "

DOMARC  Launches on my Intel iMac and that is it. Very unstable, had to force quit, and resizing the window makes it crash.

Should not be available for download yet.

PACO  I got ripped once when I bought a BeOS "beta" of Pixel32 and it took forever to get released. I asked for a refund, which the author rudely denied. I sure am not buying it again for Mac OS X.

ANONYMOUS  I'm still amazed that after all this time (and with all the goodies in Quartz) that there isn't a native cocoa pixel editor with a similar feature set.

ANONYMOUS  There's Pixen...but it's not really for photo retouching. It's more for icons and game sprite editing.
