SKWIRL42 While some of the features of BB are included in the OS, I find the reminder window helpful, and the growl integration makes it even easier to remember the most urgent birthdays. Rather than count the days myself, BB takes care of it. It even helps me remember my own birthday! (Version 1.0)
SEAN Yes, iCal can do some of what Birthday Buzzer does, just like TextEdit can do some of what Word does. Is Word useless?
Birthday Buzzer is specialised, it does one job and it does it well. A quick look at the Birthday Buzzer screenshot will make it clear how it adds value over what you can do with iCal.
Download it and try. (It takes all the names and birthdays from Address Book so it's not as if you need to reenter all this information.) (Version 1.0b2)

SCOTCHAN Actually, no. iCal doesn't allow you to create alarms for the events in your automatic "Birthday" Calendar. Which sucks. The whole point of having it in your calendar is so you can be reminded about it, right? Poor thinking on Apple's part. That's also why "Birthday Buzzer" is not the only software out there that creates reminders for birthdays in your address book. Now, how about something that does the same for other dates in my address book? (Version 1.0)
