DESCRIPTION
PixelStick is a tool for measuring distances and angles on the screen. Excellent for designers or anyone who wants to measure a distance on their screen in any window or application!. Most of what PixelStick does is obvious. Drag the endpoints to change the measurement. Click the locks to constrain the movement. Launch it, play around, you're already a pro!

ANTIOCHE  Great apps, simple, easy to use and very unobtrusive. Well done!

A small request that would be particularly useful when working on scanned architectural drawings: the ability to define a custom scale.

A similar functionality exists in Meander, but meander is completely overblown when the only thing I want to measure in the straight distance between two points...

I imagine the custom scale to work as follows:

1. Extend the two ruler handles to between two known points on the scanned drawings.

2. Choose "Custom scale..." from the scaling menu

3. Enter a custom distance that matches the scaled distance on the drawing

4. From now on, all distances displayed are multiplied by the custom scale factor.

This would make this already great tool absolutely perfect for me!

PHALERON  I stand corrected.

Upon further examining the interface. PixelStick does offer a way to constrain movement, albeit not via key combinations. Perhaps the current method is better; I am not sure at this point. But the feature exists. Thank you again for such a neat tool.

PHALERON  Excellent!

Incorporating the ability to constrain movements would make this a perfect graphics tool.

CHRIS REED  Wonderful. This 1.1.1 update makes this app a must have app for anyone doing graphic design or measuring on screen. The addition of scaling and drawing guides to the already excellent features, all for free, makes this unbeatable. Ver 1.1.1 only downloaded from the developers website not macupdate !!!

AUSTIN TASHIS  If you've been using Free Ruler, as I have, please give this a try. You'll find it less intuitive to use at first, but once you've learned it it's much more useful. It also doesn't burn up CPU cycles needlessly and make your fan come on like Free Ruler.

SCOTTYO  This is one of my favourite examples of a"perfect app": it's unobtrusive when you're not using it, but springs into action effortlessly when you summon it up. The sparse feature set is very well chosen (though I still hope for scaling, a la Meander, someday), and the operational model—for example not becoming foreground app till you click on the Measure panel—makes it a pleasure to use.
