ANONYMOUS  My corporate client often ask me to edit WMV files. Many times it's the only source they have. You can blame them for that situation but if I can't edit the format I don't get the job.

ANONYMOUS  Unless they've added support for other containers that wmv this update won't be much use. There's plenty of avi files out there with WMV9 video that are still PC-only until then.

MR.ASH  At least someone has created a QT component to playback WMV files in QT. This way you are able to import .wmv files directly in iDVD, DVDSP, Toast 6 and any other app who uses QT to decode the Video/Audio stream without converting them first.

But no light without a shadow:

WMV Studio doesn't play/convert all the WMV correctly. The playback picture is often very jumpy and the sound is often quite unclear. But the worst is the price: WMV Studio is way too expensive! Even the playback component itself isn't free, witch is very annoying cause the VLC Player is for free and plays .wmv files much better.

Make it more compatible with WMV, make it cheaper (playback must be free!) and please increase the preformance.

TELESTREAM DESKTOP SUPPORT SUPPORT  As you probably know, Flip4Mac has made Flip4Mac WMV Player available for free and they are now offering a less expensive version of WMV Studio. So someone at Flip4Mac must have paid attention!

ANONYMOUS  Anonymous. It's not really "dumping" files all over the place if you understand that each file is a separate utility, which what Studio is.

There's the Export Component in Quicktime to make WMV files.

There's the Import Component in Quicktime which allows it to Play WMV files

There's the Internet Plug in (Safari Plug in) which allows WMV to play in Quicktime in Safari.

A preference pane for the system preferences.

You get 3 utilities and a preference pane file.

ANONYMOUS  *warning* this app dumps files all over your computer, and has no uninstaller. So it really DOES bridge the gap b/w mac and PC.

ANONYMOUS  Was really looking forward to try this out. But unfortunately it doesn't decode WMV9 video in AVI containers. Hopefully this will be added in a future version. Then I will definitely buy this.

UMAROMC  ...I came to this page expecting a description that made this sound like a knockoff of the freely-available M Pler 1 and 2 or VLC... but this sounds like it has enough special features to warrant it being shareware- kudos! Too bad I'm not that heavy into video and don't have $99 to spare... :P
