CMASON  Yes, the new version is an order of magnitude slower than before. A full-size movie that used to take 10 seconds to load now takes several minutes. To fix this, revert back to version 2.2.3.7. I'm just going to stick with that until they come out with an update that fixes the speed issue.

I can't really believe they let this through QA. The difference between a minor delay that's a bit annoying, and having going out to buy a coffee is pretty major and most users are not going to tolerate this.

AN.ONYMOUS  Beware : onlythe reader is free. If you want to read WMV files in QT and edit them for saving them into any other format (.mov or .mp4) F4Mac will superpose a text on the film.

You may rather try using really FREE Mpeg Streamclip for quicker and more customizable work.

ISLANDMACMAN  Causes Safari to freeze when attempting to stream, just like the previous version of Flip4Mac. Does not work.

MRHOOKS  I hadn't updated in a while, so I updated my G5 to this latest version. There is no longer an option to load the WMV before playing, and whether or not I'm playing the WMV as it's loading, it takes much, much longer to load now, like 10x longer at least (it seems like, the larger the file, the slower it loads). I need to see if I can re-install the older version.

GARY30  On my MBP 5,2 the installer launches and just sits in the dock with the little white dot. That's all. Nothing. I don't need to "Force Quit." I just Quit from the menu. But no installation action either and nothing written to any console logs. The installer writes Seems to be a benign problem, but you never know...

JIMBLU  i'm on a MBP 5,2 and it installed without any problems for me. the problem must be benign. try the usual easy stuff first -- use the uninstaller if you have installed a previous version, trash the prefs, maybe fix permissions.

GARY30  Well, I've tried all the usual voodoo with no luck. This is the only issue I have with my well-maintained system. I am tempted to just open the packages and put all the bits where they are supposed to go. However, that method would not leave a receipt behind so permissions could not be corrected if they were wrong. Installer problem seems to occur regardless of user account under which it is run, so something is likely amiss in the Library or System folders. I am not having problems with the older version and just installed this latest one on a Snow Leopard installation that I am building from scratch on an external hard drive. In general it has become really hard to recreate a new system from scratch, remembering the settings, getting the printers installed, etc.

****.

JIMBLU  this version (2.3.1.2) fixes the problem with quicktime player 10 -- under File when you pull down to Save As… and Save For Web… it no longer puts a watermark over the video.

now i wish i would have bought this when it was on sale on macupdate a while ago.

i don't want to get into any Microsoft bashing -- but i'm thankful telestream is keeping my computer ms free to play those pesky windows media files.

CORPSECORPS  Hmm.

I believe unless you have a PS3, silverlight is required to use Netflix Instant Play.

ILGAZ  Good thing about still having Mac PPC is, MS didn't have decency and/or capability to code Silverlight 2 for PPC so PPC owners doesn't get Silverlight installed with this thing.

Still flaming Adobe? At least they can and will maintain Flash with PPC code no matter how hard it is.

KIT WALKER  In the What's new, they say : "Added 64-bit support to the WebKit plugin and the Flip4Mac WMV Preference Pane" Is it true or not ?
