DESCRIPTION

CenterStage Combo is an open source project that aims to create a fully functional Mac Media Center application to allow you to watch movies, view photos, listen to music etc. from one streamlined application that can be controlled via a remote control.

BackStage is a movie organisation tool for CenterStage Combo that can be used to store information on all your computer based movie files, including in application lookup of Internet Movie Database information such as movie artwork and actors.

You can also preview movies in BackStage, but it is designed to store movie information which it's sister application CenterStage reads.

ARTROOM  this may have been out before Frontrow, but doesn't mean Frontrow is a rip of this. Frontrow was obviously in production for a while before it came out (whereas Centrestage was known of and available right from the beginning of it's production).

I do look forward to seeing where this goes though, as there is no way i want my media centre to be windows based.

JOHANNES FROTSCHER  Dear previous author,

1.) This is a freeware, so please enjoy the

enormous time and hard work spend on

developing such a great application.

2.) "Cloan" is incorrect it shall be spelled "Clone".

3.) "Apple's Front Row" was by far developed

ages and ages after this application my dear.

4.) Write some nice lines in an email if you have any problem with the product.

5.) You should read the ReadMe files before ever writing any comment, because this software was released under alpha-state.

—> So please never write such uninteligent comments again. The only thing you cause is angry developers, that stop writing such great applications.

I am not a developer of this product, and although it appears to have more GUI than functions, it is still a step forward to a multimedial Macinthos-Community.

MAROOK  Ahh, NO! FrontRow is a rip of this idea, that evolved around the release of the mini!

This is not the first release, and have been active since marts, so if anything, FR is a rip of CS.. but the idea is not new, so who is ripping who????

And yes, I'm dead serious.

MACERICG  Personally, I don't think there is much excuse for misspellings on the web anymore, especially given that Mac users have Safari. I type "cloan" and immediately see a red, underlined, heads-up for this mistake.

Now, if we could only do something about correcting the huge misuse of possessive s ('s) in everyone's grammar...

****.

GORDY  For an Alpha release, I think it looks good.

I was able to--intuitively, mind you--select the movies option. Every movie on my system, on every drive, was available in alphabetical order in a browser type screen.

Selecting a movie played it instantly in a top right pane. There is a button to enter full screen mode, and ESC returns to the browser view.

I played a few music videos, all looked decent--though the compression artifacts were there. Those aren't noticeable when I use EyeHome when watching movies.

A couple of other issues. Full screen view doesn't scale movies properly. I believe movies fill the vertical screen space with little regard to horizontal space. On my 20" ACD, everything looked stretched upward.

While I can appreciate the main menu interface, the images only look good when they are rotated to the frontmost position. In other positions they appear jagged around the edges.

I was excited to hear about this project when the Mac mini came out. I'm glad to see that its coming along so well.
