EDITOR NOTES
IMPORTANT: Before you launch the modo demo, you first need to set up a user account, and download a license key here.
DESCRIPTION
modo was engineered to meet the challenges of the increasing demands of film, gaming, television, print and many other markets. modo combines a highly advanced real-time subdivision surface engine, fast, flexible and extensible modeling tools, and one of the most innovative and flexible user interfaces ever created. Due to the flexible nature of the modo toolset and interface, modo is excellent for creating models of any type. From organics to hard surfaces, from high-resolution film models to low-resolution real-time meshes, modo has the tools you need.

Built For Artists
modo was created to fill a void in the production world. Today's 3D modelers require a much more robust set of modeling tools, within a real-time environment, designed specifically for manipulating subdivision surfaces. modo delivers this toolset in an architecture that is designed with expansion in mind. This allows artists to create more detailed models, in an interactive environment, in a shorter timeline. modo's customizable nature allows these advanced artists to sculpt the toolset to their production requirements so that productivity can jump to new levels once the artist is fully established in the modo environment.

AJOE  I've spent the better part of the past 2 months evaluating 3d apps, but modo set the bar so high that in the end it wasn't even a contest.

Beautiful GUI, great stability (Intel), exceptional learning materials and support, and a sensible license (per user, not per computer) made the decision a no-brainer.

It is not cheap and the learning curve is not short, but this is an incredible tool that you won't outgrow.

N E P T U N E  I looked for some good not to say best 3D Modeler and I think on Mac there is nothing better right now. I am planning to make some architectural visualizations.

For that kind of work I still have to learn a lot more though.

Thanks to the many videos in the Help section of the program and luxulogys website I could complete my project. And finally mastering modo and therfore the 3D modeling world should be only a matter of time. Btw. I am bloody hell newbie to it :)

Using modo is a lot of fun to me, because you can learn everyday something new.

STESOELL  Powerful modelling and rendering tool. The best GUI I've seen in the past (Huhu Autode*k ;).

Friendly community and outstanding support from the developers. Top-notch Luxology TV and weekly modcast.

Grab your trial and see.

MARSVIOLET  A powerful but unforgiving 3D program crippled by instability and longstanding bugs, with a customizable but unwieldy modal interface that hinders more than helps, lacks support for standard Mac key bindings such as the Apple key, and in general shows contempt for the Apple Human Interface Guidelines. A wealth of training materials is available online, but the included documentation is simultaneously incomplete and redundant, and the user community is defensive, arrogant and hostile.

LLEE  My attempt to download was repeatedly rejected although I successfully completed registration. I was notified that an error had occurred and was encouraged to contact Luxology, but the contact link resulted in what appeared to be a 404 not found error.

BRAD PEEBLER  We apologize for the inconvenience. Our servers have been slammed since the announcement of the production evaluation. To remedy the situation we have doubled the available servers for downloading. It seems we are still at capacity so we are adding yet more servers today.

Thanks for your patience and understanding.
