DESCRIPTION
Are you tired of checking your "My eBay" account for soon ending auctions or getting unreliable reminder mails? Take a closer look at Baywatch.

It catches the actual auction opened in your frontmost browser window and sticks it right into iCal. You can specify the reminder alarm in the preferences and if you wish to add another auction the "Refresh button" is your friend. Adding an auction to iCal is as simple as reopening the auction by clicking the URL in the event information.

So you can easily organize your eBay auctions and never bother about any missed opportunities.

PROFINITE  This new release v1.5 does not seem to work with Safari 3.1 (5525.13) on OS 10.5.2.

If someone has gotten this version working, please post your success.

    NILS  @PROFINITE:

I have testet it on 10.5.2 with Safari 3.1 and it worked.

Can you please specify your problem.

    Intel or PPC?

    Which eBay Country (ebay.de, eBay.co.uk etc.) ?

What message is displayed in the main window?

    Thanks for your comment

    greetings

PROFINITE  My apologies. v1.5 does work with Safari 3.1. I was so used to a quick interaction between Baywatch and Safari on Tiger that I thought v1.5 was hanging every time I tried to add an auction. So, I kept force-quitting v1.5. Then, today I noticed in my iCal some eBay entries. So, I realized that v1.5 had actually worked. This evening, I let v1.5 as long as it wants to run when I add an auction. Sure enough, it does add the auction in iCal.

Thank you again for your wonderful product!

STEVE R  Stopped working. After I bought a new-to-me computer and reload the software the application started giving me error messages -- "Baywatch can't find an ebay auction in your front most window." Since I'd grown to depend on this **great little app**, I was a bit saddened that it somehow got broke.

In searching for an update, a previous comment led me down the right path. When I re-installed the OS, some location settings were changed so trying to add an eBay.COM auction wasn't working. Adding eBay.CA auctions is working.

Hint: sometimes having an ebay.com/yada/yada auction in the front window will work simply by changing to ebay.CA/yada/yada. I have no idea if this will work for ebay.fr, etc.

SMACTRON  This software is simple and great. Will it ever be updated as a Universal Binary, though? I hope so!

    ***½.

JLARO  It doesn't work properly for me. It might be due to the fact that my OS X (and therefore my iCal) is in French, or that eBay changed its date display at some point. The eBay pages I look at are in English.

    Examples:

A listed eBay.com end time is "Feb-06-06 17:11:39 PST", but Baywatch puts it in my calendar on June 17th, 2006, at 11:39.

A listed eBay.ca end time is "06-Feb-06 18:57:39 EST", but Baywatch puts it in my calendar on June 18th, 2006, at 00:00.

So until this is resolved this program is of absolutely no use.

To the developer: it would be useful to show the end date in the Baywatch window so we can make sure it's the right one before adding the event to the calendar.

    NILS  Hi JLARO,

i think you´re right with your assumption.

The country of the ebay site you visit must suit the country settings in the system preferences.

For example when you are looking at ebay.com, then you must set USA as the region.

You can find it here: System Preferences -> Country Settings -> Format -> Region

I admit it is a little bit bothering for people whose system language is different to the country of the ebay site they visit...

    greetings

    nils

P.S.: Thanks for the hint with the end date. I wrote this one down...

JLARO  Nils, I think that if you used the eBay API instead of parsing the auction page you'd get universal support for your widget. The API probably provides the time in a constant format no matter the country of origin.

BROKE BUT WITH LOTS OF NEW GOODIES  This is exactly what I DO NOT need! Because of this FREE application, I spent the weekend bidding on eBay.ca, knowing exactly when auctions were going to be ending because Baywatch works so seemlessly with iCal that I didn't get carpal tunnel inputting all the details manually. Where will the developer be next month when the credit card bills start coming in, eh?

    Excellent application, job well done!

KUNIO MITSUMA  The new version 1.0b5 now works with eBay Motors as well.

The developer is dedicated and quick to respond to reports from users. I am satisfied with this program and it helps me well.

I highly recommend it to anyone

JP  Very nice. Works without a hitch. Only thing is, my time offset from PST is 13:45. Is there a way to to program for partial hours?

    Thank you for this freeware.
