Airfoil... Send any audio to AirPort Express units, Apple TVs, and even other Macs and PCs, all in sync! It's your audio — everywhere!
With Airfoil you can take audio from any application and send to your AirPort Express units, as well as Apple TVs, and even other Macs and PCs running Airfoil Speakers! Transmit audio from RealPlayer, Windows Media Player, QuickTime Player, and other media players. Send audio from web-based applications like Pandora, Last.fm, and other to the AirPort Express. You can even stream audio from audio devices like RadioSHARK, XM and Sirius radios, around your house.
WHAT'S NEW
Version 3.3.1:
- Airfoil is now compatible with AirPort Express 7.4.2 firmware and Apple TV 2.4 firmware.
- Airfoil no longer works around firewalls by sending an initial fake timing packet
- The auto-transmit checkbox in Preferences now behaves properly with disappearing speakers.
- Issues with deadlocked speaker threads, caused by setting metadata on disconnected speakers, have been resolved.
- Multiple Airfoil Video Player issues have been corrected, including bad player state when a new movie is dragged in and the jumping playhead slider. The volume settings and position indicators are also now properly handled when dragging in a new movie.

I needed something that would bypass iTunes and stream Pandora to Airport Express. A quick search found this page and these reviews (thanks to THE_BARON whose situation was nearly identical to my own). 5 minutes after downloading Airfoil I was listening to Pandora through my living room stereo and could not be happier. This app is amazingly simple to set up and use... absolutely no learning curve... just click the speaker icon and listen. If only all programs were this easy. Airfoil is a brilliant solution for anyone who is looking to stream web radio to Airport Express.... period.

SGGINC Downloads version 3.1. When run the about screen says 3.1. When check for update is chosen it downloads 3.1 and relaunches it. Check for updates continues to download 3.1. Thanks ... Ken

ANDY HEWITT I've been using this since last year, after I got an Airport Express. Airfoil was a real life saver, or at least a cable saver :-)! Although it allows playing of audio by wireless, I did find that lip-sync in movies wasn't too brilliant. However, that seems much better since the previous update (3.2.6). Overall, these are a nice collection of tools that offer functionality missing from the Mac OS. Soundflower is quite impressive too. Movies play very well in the Airfoil movie player, although you can use VLC as well, but it takes a lot of fiddling with the audio delays to sync with the video. They're pretty stable too, and I haven't had any crashes to date (should I have said that?). This is amongst the shareware apps I have been happy to pay for.

THE_BARON LOVE this app! I needed a way to stream Pandora radio to all my airport airtunes locations in my house and I couldn't find a way to do it. I was able to stream my itunes music throughout my house, but not Pandora radio. After a few google searches, I came across Airfoil and decided to give it a shot. It took me less than 5 minutes to configure and then it automatically saw all 3 of my stereos throughout the house (front room speakers, living room, and backyard). VERY easy to use...and it works great. No complaints so far. Also the customer service is top notch. I emailed asking if they were planning an iphone app like the itunes Remote app that would allow me to control Pandora over my airport network and got a response within a couple hours. They were very receptive to the idea and the email was very kind. I highly recommend Rogue Amoeba and Airfoil.

NOW4REAL954 I WAS SO HAPPY WHEN I FIRST FOUND THIS SOFTWARE BECAUSE I WANTED TO USE IT WITH ALL OF MY DVDS THAT I HAD RIPPED TO MY HARD DRIVES...SO THEY WERE VIDEO TS FILES...AND I WAS VERY UPSET THAT I WAS NOT ABLE TO USE IT TO WATCH THESE FILES BECAUSE IT WOULD ONLY WORK WITH ACTUAL DVDS IN THE DVD DRIVE...BUT NOW SINCE THE UPDATE TO 3.2...ITS AMAZING...THE ABLITY TO USE MY VIDEO TS FILES IS THE BOMB... YOU CAN ALSO TELL THE MAJOR DIFFERENCE WHEN IT COMES TO THE STREAMING...YES THERE IS A DELAY WHEN U USE AIRFOIL BUT THERE IS ONE WHEN YOU USE AIRPORT EXPRESS WITH ITUNES...BUT THE AIRFOIL VIDEO PLAYER IS AMAZING HOW IT MAKES IT SO YOU CAN PLAY ANY VIDEO FILE IN THE PLAYER AND IT KNOWS HOW MUCH OF A DELAY THERE IS...SO INSTEAD OF HAVING TO HAVE HEAD PHONES ATTACHED TO MY MACBOOK TO WATCH A MOVIE IN BED ALL I HAVE TO DO IS DRAG THE FILE FROM THE FINDER TO THE VIDEO WINDOW AND IT PLAYS IN SURROUND SOUND THRU MY SPEAKERS...AND WILL PLAY TO HOWEVER MANY AIRPORT EXPRESSES I WANT IT TO PLAY THRU..I LOVE IT CUDOS TO ROGUE AMOEBA FOR GETTING THIS RIGHT...ITS CRAZY THAT I CANT USE MY ITUNES TO WATCH MOVIES WITH MY AIRPORT EXPRESS BUT NOW ALL I HAVE TO DO IS SHOW IN FINDER THE MOVIES THAT IN MY ITUNES AND DRAG TO THE VIDEO PLAYER AND IM GREAT...
