KEVINBRIGHTON  Faultless playback of MOD files every time, with a tidy and simple (hence the name) interface. All I wanted was a small and tidy player to use some files I had downloaded.

The author has made some baffling choice when designing the interface, for example not being able to load a file via the file menu, and the standard red close window button being disabled, but overall it's pretty staight forward and does the job soundly.

The price is good too :)

SCHMELDING  If it's so "Ximple," why does it require an installer?

    Not gonna do it.

KEVINBRIGHTON  You don't want a useful piece of free software because it runs through a 30 second installer?

IAFOREK  Good application. Great sound quality. But... first thing what I did when I wanted to open a file, was checking in FILE menu for an open option. And there wasn't any:(

Next thing: why there is no pause icon above big left round button?

And third: I have a folder (for example ~/Music/) with mod files and in that folder there is a subfolder (~/Music/Music2/) with other mod files. I am selecting ~/Music/ for a playlist. Everything is OK until playlist comes to subfolder. I get a "Invalid song format!" warrning:( Ohh! I have now noticed that there is a "Choose a folder with only(...)" warrning. But I think You should make possible to use for playlist folders with subfolders.

That is all. Once again: good job.

    Cheers!

AET  Agreed. Please include the ability to use File -> Open... for opening music files. It's a standard; people will expect to find it there (or expect to be able to load a song with a simple command-o).

    ****.

DEKKARD  Ok in concept, but i think the interface needs a little work. It didnt automagically play the mod i chose from the "load" button. Also, even if you choose it as the default mod player it doesnt play the file, all it does is envoke the program . It should also remember the last playlist(?) instead of making you rechoose. I understand the authors idea of keeping it simple, but there isnt a need for that extra click. I will say this, It sounds better than what i was using. A lot better. And to the anon commenter at the top.. Many make their own tracks... thats the scene.. if you need some and love chippy electronic music..try the modarchive.

ANONYMOUS  Also try google. There are a few massive archives out there. One of the old huge ones is

    http://wuarchive.wustl.edu/aminet/mods/index.html

They have some good tunes there too and all are free last I looked.

AET  Not bad at all to use, streamlined look with extra features available at a buttonclick.

That said, there's a few oddities...

Please add more ways to load a file. Currently the only way is to click on the 'Load' button - I'd like an Open option in the File menu, as well as the ability to simply drag a playable music file onto the app's icon in the Finder or the Dock.

Consider placing the play triangle and and pause double-bar inside the two circlular buttons to make their use more obvious.

The additional panels for Sound, Channels and Instruments don't need to float above all other apps, just be on the same level as XimpleMOD's main window.

The Repeat button's use seems kind of counter-intuitive. It currently states "Repeat" and doesn't. Yet when I have it set to "No Repeat" the music does.

    TOAD  Hi,

Thanks a lot for your comment and for all your suggestions.

Now in 2.1 there is also another way to load files - the Playlist.

But anyway I want to implement the "drag & drop" feature you said... I hope to have it in the next release.

About the Repeat button: When a normal song is playing it has two stats. The label of the button is the stat that will be active when clicking in.

This is, if the label is "No Repeat", currently the song is in "Repeat" mode...

Hmmm.... I want to make this button more obvious and simple in the next release also.

    Thanks,

    Toad.
