DESCRIPTION
aMule is a eMule-like client for ed2k network, supporting Linux, *BSD platforms, Solaris, Mac OS X and Win32. It was forked from xMule project back in September 2003 (not related to it anymore, except little bits of old code), to drive it to a brand new direction and quality. Uses wxWidgets (formely known as wxWindows) for multiplatform support.

aMule has almost all features of the eMule client.

JMSUIJKERBUIJK  It claims to be for PPC/Intel, but the download gives an Intel only app. Clear and correct information is much appreciated.

JFREYBA  This is the source code, not the application. We should wait a little more time for a official package.

I(POWER)MAC  regarding to the package, more correctly than "official" we should say "binary": indeed also source code is "official" ;-) .

STROB  The instructions for installing this on a mac is not your simple configure, make, make install from source. It is much more complicated than that. The following have to be downloaded and installed separately before compiling aMule: Xcode, Macports, Crypto++, and wxMac. I doubt very many people would have ability or desire to attempt it. The site says the latest binary is 2.1.3. What is needed is a 2.2.2 binary.

STROB  I should also add that one can use Fink instead of Macports to install the 11 (!) additional tools needed to compile aMule.

SILVERDEMON  Er, failed to read other comments more closely. Tested on G5 and it seems to work. But why state PPC/Intel then?

MIKE RATT  38 files in the folder 'aMule 2.2.2?. WTF? I only see an App called 'aMule' and is compiled under PPC (come on, we're in 2008) architecture.

hel*l*p?

TASKMAN  Excellent software, although I am not using it for everyday file sharing. There are a number of interesting/rare files on the eDonkey network.
