F451  One of my favorite Safari plug-ins. It does what the others do, but better. (e.g., find function, increasing and decreasing page font sizes). Many other very helpful and unobtrusive features. I have been a user since SafariStand first hit the scene.

MACHEADCASE  I too am having the Flash plugin problems with this latest version of SafariStand even though I never used or installed Safari 4. The incompatibility happened out of the blue: am moving my stuff because I got a brand new iMac today and installed all the latest software I used on the iMac G5.

Reverting back to the previous version of SafariStand (3.1L162) solved the problem for me though.

BROCK SAMSON  Safari (3.2.1) won't load Flash correctly with SafariStand installed.

Videos display "Plugin - click to load." even with "Load plug-in Manually" and "Site Alteration" unchecked. This problem started after installing, and then subsequently uninstalling Safari 4 beta.

LEOPOLDBLOOM  I really like SafariStand, but it seems to be conflicting a little with Glims (i.e. inexplicable crashing of Safari 4 that only occurs when both are installed). Stand still offers some very nice features that Glims doesn't, but if I must choose only one, I think it will have to be Glims. Here's to hoping the developer of one or both of these plugins addresses compatibility issues.

SULEIMAN KHAN  Safari Stand is working great except it's not able to save my toolbar configuration. I go in and reset it every time.

All I'm doing is adding my new tab and sidebar buttons to the toolbar, but I'm hitting up against no joy each time I go and restart the app to see my changes are wiped. :(

Anyone else having this issue?

SWORDMAN  Does anyone know where SafariStand's preferences are kept? I need to delete it's preference file.

Help?

I've looked in Library/Preferences, but found nothing with the word "stand" or "safaristand" in it.

I'm trying to reset it.

Thanks for any help!

LEOPOLDBLOOM  I haven't used SafariStand in a while, but I think it leaves some stuff in ~/Library/Safari. You could also use the Finder to search your entire hard drive for files and folders containing "stand."

SJK  ~/Library/Preferences/jp.hetima.SafariStand.plist (file) and ~/Library/Safari/Stand (folder).

SWORDMAN  SJK, you were right. I actually found it just now before coming back here. Thanks anyways!

All is right with the world now. Except the swath of destruction Bush left behind. That's gonna take awhile.

Safari/Safaristand works great now though!

BRUCEANDERSON  I'm glad to see SafariStand updated for Safari 4 Beta, but I can't find the option to disable GIF animations. Has this function been removed? I hope not, because I need this option to make Safari usable for me. :(

F451  This version appears to be a work in progress so there are features that are not yet completed. I do not see the animation feature in the settings so it may or may not be gone.

BRUCEANDERSON  Good point. I'll keep my fingers crossed that it'll be in the final version! Of course it would be nice if Apple would just provide us borderline epileptics with the ability to disable GIF animations ourselves so we wouldn't have to rely on third parties to give us the relief we need.

SJK  AFAIK none of the Safari plugins for Safari 3/4 support disabling GIF animations; it seems to be a tough issue to resolve.

BRUCEANDERSON  Huh. I thought SafariStand 3 could disable GIF animations. Maybe I'm thinking of an earlier version.

SJK  Here, the "Kill Gif Animation" option is dimmed-out under the General tab in the SafariStand Setting window of SS 3.1L161; you can read the text but can't (dis|en)able it. Not sure about earlier versions because I was using PithHelmet's "Animate Images: Once" option (ideal for me) before that (and machete scripts, alas) broke with Safari 3. I vaguely remember reading it's similar with Saft, too. The Glims feature list doesn't mention anything about support animation blocking, which I'd think it would if it was possible.

That's some background behind my earlier "tough issue to resolve" remark.

STEVEN GOODHEART  Thanks for what you shared. I simply love SafariStand. If you want to see some more search strings, take a look at my review of Keywurl here at MacUpdate. You should be able to adapt them to SafariStand just fine...and, you just may find you decide to use Keywurl for this enhancement, though SafariStand certainly does a fine job. (I have no relationship to either SafariStand or Keywurl, except as a very happy user.)

Here's a quick answer to your AllMusic query, but do take a look at the Keywurl review for more queries (as well as to get an explanation of the code, below)

ZO219  Two words: History Flow ...!

More words: SafariStand is not interfering with 1Password or vice versa, in 10.5.3 ... nor was this happening in 10.5.2.

Try downloading the free app InputManagers, which will set the correct permissions.

Important: SafariStand should be located in /Library/Application Support/SIMBL/Plugins. The bundle, only. Loader not needed.

/Library/InputManagers holds the iPasswd bundle (it will install itself there,) and another folder, SIMBL, containing the SIMBL bundle.

This works better than putting SafariStand in your users Input Managers (which shouldn't even exist) and is recommended by the developer.

HAZMAT  Yes it is interfering with 1Password. I have had it installed where you said and the 1P icon will not appear in the first Safari window opened. I can only get it from the right-click menu. Yes, I could open another window and start from there, but I have SS restore all my tabs on open.
