DESCRIPTION
Bellhop allows you to build Mac OS X system services using high-level scripting languages. With Bellhop, you simply write your services in one of the scripting languages, configure the service settings and then let Bellhop take care of the rest. Behind the scenes, Bellhop updates the necessary system property lists, updates the system-wide Services menu, and automatically invokes your service script when necessary.
Bellhop is fully-functional donationware; if you find Bellhop useful and would like to make a donation, you can do so via the application.
WHAT'S NEW
Version 2.0.4:
- Fixed a bug with newly added services not showing up in the tree view.
- Fixed a packaging problem with the F-Script plugin that would cause Bellhop to crash.
- Fixed a bug that prevented exporting a set of services.
REQUIREMENTS
Mac OS X 10.5 or later.

XENDAI I believe you were seeing 2 problems: one was due to a change in Leopard and the other was a bug in Bellhop. I think both of those have been resolved in Version 2.0.1 and you should be able to drag service packs into your Bellhop collections and they should show up in the Services menu now. I apologize for the inconvenience. (Version 2.0)

MORJOVY sounds great but... doesn't work for me when i tried to make my own service or imported additional packs from homesite, and hit "rebuild service menu" nothing new seems to appear in services. maybe, this version doesn't support Leo 10.5.2 ? (Version 2.0)

XENDAI Sorry about the problems. It seems as though I introduced some last minute bugs that slipped through. I will hopefully have those fixed and another build available tonight. Again, sorry for the inconvenience. (Version 2.0)

XENDAI Oh, one more thing. When you say that the "+" button doesn't work, are you possibly using an older version of Bellhop? I'm assuming you're talking about the button below the sidebar, right? That has changed since version 2.0 so that the plus button is now a full action menu with options to add services, collections, etc. (Version 2.0.1)

FYI: The name Leo comes from the Latin form of the Greek leon, which means lion. (Version 2.0.1)

ANONYMOUS This is a really nice utility for people who know a little programming, from a great and responsive developer. It takes all the drudgery out of writing a quick system service. Nice job. Now how about Perl support? :) (Version 1.0.1)

FEZ Thanks for the kind words! Just wanted to let you and all those interested know that Perl is next on my list of languages to support. I've just finished support for F-Script in 1.0.2, so I've got some time to start looking at Perl now. (Version 1.0.2)

XENDAI I just wanted to let folks know that the perl plugin is now complete (please note that the perl plugin should be considered beta, and any feedback would be greatly appreciated). Starting with 1.0.3, all plugins are available for use free for 30 days (Ruby, AppleScript, Python, Perl and F-Script). After 30 days, only Ruby and AppleScript will continue to work without a license. (Version 1.0.3)

FEZ Folks, sorry for the inconvenience, but the hosting company that serves xendai.com had a drive failure yesterday (Saturday) on the machine that has the xendai.com website. They tell me that they should have it back online today (Sunday, 6th Feb). In the meantime, I've put version 1.0.1b7 of Bellhop on my .mac filesharing page. Sorry for the inconvenience. ANONYMOUS I'm not sure placing an 'i' before the name is enough to avoid the confusion. (Version 1.0.1b3)

FEZ You're right, it's not a big enough change to prevent confusion. I am still working on a new name for the app (I think I have one now), but I needed something immediately because of potential data issues with files and such between the two applications. Apologies for any continued confusion and I ask for your patience while I make changes to reflect the "real" new name. (Version 1.0.1b3)

ANONYMOUS Concierge application already exists; it's a Safari bookmark utility. You should pick another name. (Version 1.0.1b1)

FEZ Yes, I am aware of the other Concierge product. It is unfortunate, especially since I started development of this Concierge (the one that provides services) before Safari was released. Anyway, since the other Concierge was officially released first, I am currently in the process of renaming my software. The new name will probably not be much different than it is now, but enough to at least show up as different listings. If anyone's got any suggestions for a new name, I'm all ears.
