DESCRIPTION
Jomic is a viewer for comic books stored in CBZ, CBR, and PDF files. Features include a two page mode, full-screen, caching and support for several image formats (PNG, JFIF/JPEG, TIFF, and GIF). It is Open Source software distributed under the GNU General Public License.
WHAT'S NEW
Version 0.9.30: This release improves image rendering and automatically opens
the next comic when trying to navigate past the last page.
Changes:
Application
- Fixed and improved image rendering:
- Fixed error: Problem occurs when computing a tile by the owner
[Bug 1827855].
- Fixed rendering of black and white images [Bug 1456026].
- Fixed various rendering issues in windowed mode by getting rid of the
deprecated and buggy DisplayJAI and using code similar to full screen
mode.
- Fixed resource leaks related to image drawing (Developer note: missing
Graphics.dispose()).
- Improved performance of displaying certain JFIF/JPEG images that until
now occupied the CPU for several seconds. (Developer note: This was
caused by Graphics2D.drawRenderedImage() being awfully slow with a
scale transformation and render settings using
VALUE_INTERPOLATION_BILINEAR and has been fixed by internally enforcing
all images to be 32-bit RBG without alpha channel.)
- Fixed "Can't find resource for bundle" error when attempting to warn that a
web page could not be opened [Bug 1886584].
- Changed space bar and mouse navigation to automatically open previous/next
comic when reaching the beginning/end of comic. Page up/down still behave
the old way and can be used to navigate without possible files being opened.
- Added rotation set with View Rotate right and View Rotate left to be
preserved over sessions.
- Added http://jomic.sourceforge.net/PAD_FILE.XML to make it simple for
automatic tools and interested web sites to check for updates of Jomic.
- Updated Quaqua to version 4.4.1.
Documentation
- Added frequently asked question "Why are some images of a comic displayed
in wrong order?"
REQUIREMENTS
Mac OS X 10.3 or later.

QUIROP-PA Una aplicación sencilla y eficaz. Tal vez las haya mejores, pero con esta no necesito comprobarlo. Gracias! (Version 0.9.30)

SPRINGHEELMAC Works well. One question: when Jomic extracts the comic, where does it extract it too? Can the directory be selected? I noticed a considerable amount of space after extracting a comic, but could not locate it, although it was viewable just fine. (Version 0.9.25)

ROSKAKORI By default, the cache is in ~/Library/Caches/jomic and grows up to 256 MB. You can change that by adding for example the following lines to ~/Library/Preferences/jomic.properties: cacheDir=/Volumes/SomeOldDrive/Caches/jomic archiveCacheSizeInMb=4096 It's not documented in the manual, but it's been like that for ages and I don't have any intention to change it. Maybe someday there will be a GUI for the cache settings. (Version 0.9.25)

RMOLENDA A great application for the job. Simply put, you can't beat the price, and the developer continues to improve it. (Version 0.9.22)

ANONYMOUS Jomic is a great program! Wonderful app. The only problem I've had is when I started it for the first time, I got an error message that just said "null," and the program quit. After trying to start it several times with the same problem, I dragged a .zip file to the icon, and it has worked perfectly since. (Version 0.9.10)

ANONYMOUS the only problem I'm still having with jomic is that maybe 50% of the time when I open a archive (I don't know if it happens more with either type) it will not just open it and instead will prompt me for which file I want to open. Sort of annoying to have to navigate through the directories to get to a file I just opened. Otherwise it's all good! (Version 0.9.9)

ROSKAKORI Version 0.9.10 was just released. Among other things, opening a comic from the Finder should now work reliably. (Version 0.9.9)

ANAD This works great for me. I like it much better then FFView or Comical. Appears faster and I have less problems with cbr and cbz files. Great work. (Version 0.9.8)

ROSKAKORI As pointed out in the forum, it seems that the JAI installation fails on Mac OS X 10.3.8 (though it still claims it was successful). To work around that, there is a release with all JAI related stuff already included. You can download it from . (Version 0.9.8)

ANONYMOUS Several people reported that they cannot get JAI to work with Mac OS 10.3.8, and thus Jomic won't work. See the related discussion in the forum for details. (Version 0.9.8)

ADAM I want to use this program but I can't get it to run. I get the same message about Java Advanced Imaging not being installed. JAI is definitely installed on my machine. (Version 0.9.8)
