DESCRIPTION
Machete is a collection of php, and Applescripts that allow you to enjoy your music anywhere there is a web browser. It provides a pretty front end with basic search and play functions for your music collection. The website is hosted right off your machine using the power of Mac OS X and Apache. If you have a complex Apache setup and you don't want the auto-installer monkeying with it, I suggest you install manually, skipping things where needed. If you're a regular user and you don't know what this Apache thing is that I keep going on about, don't worry. The installer is for you.

  • Non-English character support may actually be worse, sorry, this would take a rewrite to fix and development isn't exactly moving fast here. The source is ugly and old.

Mac OS X 10.2 or later, 10.4 or 10.5 for automatic installation. iTunes with Music Organization On.

    A J BENAMU  The webpage loads up, try to play music and there is no sound at all.

    ZACK SCHILLING  Is the Quicktime plugin loading or is it stuck with a question mark? What browser are you using? Have you tried Firefox? Are your speakers plugged in? :)

    I've tested this software extensively and I've not had this issue, so I'd just like some more info.

    THE MAN NEXT TO THE CORNER GUY  Any way to add more upload slots? I tweaked the code, but I could only get 5 to work. Iwould like to get 15 or so. 0.2 is great.

    ZACK SCHILLING  Upload links, yes, but you have to edit the upload cgi script. It's called "macheteupload.cgi", located in "/Library/WebServer/CGI-Executables/". Look for: "$max_num_files = 5;" I think it' pretty obvious what you should change this to : ). That's the best part about this setup. I tried to make it so easy to use that even the computer illiterate could, but not actually hide its flexibility from the advanced user.

    THAT GUY OVER THERE  Thank you for this. I was looking for an easy way to let my wife browse our Mp3 collection and download only what she wanted for the brand new used iPod and this is exactly waht I was looking for. This app has plenty of cowbell.
