PROFINITE  I believe that MegaCellX is currently the only cell phone application that allows you to import a text file of phone numbers into a group, then to send a single SMS to the group.

I need to send the same SMS to a group of about 100 students. I am not going to create 100 entries into the phone book, only to delete them at the end of the semester.

I emailed the author how to do this, and he has promptly and kindly guided me through an easy step to import a text file of numbers into a group in MegaCellX and to send the same SMS to the group.

    TENSHIKUR0  Nice app.

Needs a bit of GUI work, but otherwise very stable, and manages calls and SMS beautifully.

Once caveat, though, for some reason, it reads ALL incoming calls as long distance (.. thus adding +1) to them, so it doesn't look up the info correctly from my AddressBook, hence the CallerID doesn't work.

    Apart from that, good work.

DMMH  This program is not worth anyone's time! The only thing that is good for is writing text messages, (that is when it doesn't crash). This program has crashed on me every-time I have opened it. I and I unfortunately am one of the not so smart people that paid for it. don't waste your time or money. If you want to put numbers in your address book use Isync, if you want to send text messages use Entourage. This program is really pathetic.

DAN  Wow, this is cool. I use 10.3, and my phone (motorola razr) is not supported by iSync through bluetooth (need to upgrade to 10.4 to get that, maybe later), so I thought I was out of luck.

But this software accessess the phone via the bluetooth *modem* connection, so nothing fancy is required. As I understand it, as long as your phone is bluetooth and complies with basic modem functions, this software will connect. I was able to see and edit all contacts. Still exploring software, but very cool so far.

P.S. be sure to read the guide on author's web page. I had to re-setup my phone as bluetooth device to "allow modem connection" before software worked. Other quirks explained in docs.

P.P.S. as far 3 stars for value, I'm kind of cheap, and would prefer $10 for such a one trick pony. I buy a lot of shareware and it's just hard to keep up with prices pushing ever upward. No offense to author - like I say, I'm cheap. Would be happier with $10.

LRM  If your phone is not supported by iSync - donīt bother. It does not bring more features.

If your Phone IS supported by iSync - donīt bother. You donīt need it!

ANONYMOUS  I've tested it with a T68i via blutooth and it works very well. It manages just SMS and Contacts but it does it perfectly. It works with all the phones with AT commands and throught IR, Blutooth and cable, so it is not created for a specific phone (or a specific brand like PhoneAgent) and you can continue using it when you buy a new phone from another brand with AT commands. It doesn't work with the Symbian OS.

It allows export/import for both contacts and SMS in a text format and has backup functionality. The shareware version allows you to save just 10 SMS. The license price is 20 USD, good value for money for me.
