DESCRIPTION
iPodder is a media aggregator which automatically downloads podcasts to your computer or portable device based on a RSS feed, leaving you 'one-click-away' from latest media feeds. The whole process is done on it's own, so you don't have to select files, search for them or click links to download the media. All you do is specify some feeds and wait to get yourself the podcasts. All you have to do is decide what your going to listen.
Features:
- iPodder for the Mac and Windows platform (and soon, Linux)
- Graphical user interface and tray icon
- Scheduler inside to setup recursive and timed downloads
- Progress bar inside
- BitTorrent support
- iTunes/Mediaplayer integration
- Downloads are automatically divided by folders
- Playlists ordered by Feed
- Application memorizes the history to prevend double downloads
- Half downloads will be restarted in new session
- Automatic placing of content on your iPod (mac only)
- Standalone application (no extra applications needed)
- Easy to use
REQUIREMENTS
Mac OS X 10.2 or later.

TEE JAY On my MacBook Pro, the application quits immediately after opening it, without any error message. I'm guessing that this means that Juice 2.2 isn't compatible with Intel Macs (not even via Rosetta). Since the app hasn't been updated since November 2005, that's not too surprising. The program does, however, launch on my old PowerMac G3. A moderate attempt has been made to make this app look Mac-like, but some of the icons are unfortunately very unintuitive (e.g. a tiny red-and-orange rectangle is supposed to signify a podcast feed) or very Windows-like (yellow folder icons). The podcast directory is extremely limited and apparently not searchable. I didn't try downloading any podcasts with Juice; iTunes already does a great job of that and has a much nicer interface. ANONYMOUS An upside down pyramid is more stable than this program. It crashes every 40 seconds. This is not a beta, it's an alpha at best. (Version 2.2beta1)

DBURNEY Whoa - the download is only 17mb, but the .dmg file is 100mb and the app is 59 mb? Why is this app so big? (Version 2.0)

WTMCGEE the UI needs some work, but it does what I want it to do - downloads the latest feeds, automatically puts them into iTunes, and then I can manage tracks from within iPodder as well, if I so desire. Hey, it's free - I can't complain! I seem to have a problem with python still being in use when I try to update, however. (Version 2.0rc3)

EGON DEGON large, slow, unclear interface. Low number of feeds in the directory. Sorting of directory useless. No search function. P.S.: Is that an open source project? It looks like. (Version 2.0rc2)

KAREN Ugh. The interface is ghastly. Random scrollbars everywhere. I tried using this and iPodderX Lite, and iPodderX Lite actually looks and behaves like a Mac program. (Version 2.0rc2)

ANONYMOUS BIG improvement over 1.1 1.1 quit working with webjay.org sometime last week. 2.0b3 works again! Plus it gets titles cleaned up. has an apppearance like Firefox. Lots of options. I like being able to schedule downloads in the wee hours. I did come in this morning to see "application not responding" But given that this is a BETA, it did great. Thanks to iPodder team. (Version 2.0b3)

DAVID JENNINGS Can't get this software to install. Every time I just get "There were errors installing the software - please try installing the software again". The complete lack of documentation does not help. I am using OS 10.2.8 - I suspect 10.3 may be required (contrary to what macupdate says) but have no way of telling for sure. (Version 1.1)

BRIAN KENDIG No documentation or help menu, and an interface that's minimalist and unclear. And when I visit iPodder.org to get new podcasts, the site simply downloads .xml files to my desktop and I have no idea what to do with them. I can't figure out how to get iPodder to do anything useful. (Version 1.0)

BRIAN GIESE you need to copy the XML link and paste that link into iPodder. right click to copy the link you can also use the podcast directory within iPodder to subscribe to various podcasts. This program has worked fine for me on my iMac G4 running 10.3.7. iPodderX is another program worth checking out. they now have a free version (Version 1.1.4)
