XPLICIT  What about a single "pedia" for all my media stuff? One application for every different kind is somehow annoying.

Come on, four apps which do nearly the same, that's a laugh.

BRUJI  The main reason the programs are separate is because we want them to be good at what they do - if you have large collections then putting them all together into one application will mean a slower program and less specialized features.

It also allows us to keep the price low for users who are only interested in one application. (And for those interested in more we offer bundle discounts.)

Having said that though, the Pedia programs do have some integration between them. You can link a Bookpedia book to a DVDpedia movie, for example. Sure, you're using two programs but clicking on the link will take you directly to the other program with the related entry highlighted.

Alternatively, there's also the Amazonpedia widget or Spotlight which allow you to search all your Pedia libraries at once (as well as Amazon with the widget) so you don't have to have all the programs running just to check for an entry.

CHINARIDER  Easily the best app of this type available. Not sure why DL gets all the attention when it's clearly a toy compared to the features and flexibilty of the Pedias. It's fast, very customizable and the support is the best I've ever experienced. The pedias are constantly being updated by a developer who listens to his customers. It's an absolute pleasure dealing with this product and this company.

ANONYMOUS  adding tunes integration is good but what about the 'CD Info.cidb' (ie itunes cd titles list) this would cut down on "re-finding" already known cds in the system.

Also adding a search of the Gracenote CDDB would find a LOT of the titles that even amazon doesnt list.

other than that its functional, but clumsy to view track listings of cd's

ANONYMOUS  If you can tell me how to parse the info.cidb I'll gladly incorporate it into CDpedia. Otherwise you'll have to wait until I figure it out... :)

And we use Amazon and freedb.org for information gathering because their service is free - as opposed to Gracenote CDDB which requires a fee.

ANDYAU  I've been waiting for this one too. I now have the whole 'Pedia set which I find much more user friendly than Library. As this is only version 1.0, I'm sure there'll be lots of additional features and bug fixes in the next version.

One thing I did notice... after using the Scan CD feature a few times, the search became unresponsive. I had to quit CDPedia and relaunch it.
