XPLICIT  Why is there a colour gradient in the lower (right) section(s) of this app? Sure, gradients look nice but I think if used like this in an app the usability is impaired. It gets more difficult to distinguish the foreground elements from the background.

PETERFL  Been using iFinance since Version 2, thanks for the free update to version 3. I'm using MacFamilyTree from Synium, too, both have been great Apps.

Version 3 seems to be a major leap forward, thanks for all the hard work!

PANTS  Won't import account data from banks (except the few that use CSV--and does that poorly); doesn't do split transactions. Useless. Stick with Moneydance.

TANKKNIGHT  I started experimenting as I am very tired of Quicken and this sounded pretty good. It was going so-so with my testing. My biggest complaint would be that it is not very flexible in the personal customizing that I wanted to do. I then went to save what I had and granted I am using as a demo, but it doesn't allow saving in demo. Bummer ... it's at a nice price, but I expect to be able to save so I can dig in deep to make up my mind.

SLOB  It's not pretty, and I don't mean that in an icon lover sense - the scroll bars are less the width of what we're used to so mousing is more fiddly, the columns are quirky..

But in use it's now a load better than v.1. Very fast even with a 3 year import of daily cash flow items from v.1. There's now a built-in transfer option which on the import from v.1 needs setting up one by one (changes on a multiple selection are needed) but once done it's a big advantage in seeing what's been going on.

There's a big selection of charts in the default doc. They may need renaming but they're configurable and already give lots of feedback. Weird menu commands (eg. New item, or 'booking' as it's called here - Cmd opt E..?). No Export option yet either, so you'd be stuck with it if you go for it.

If they'd redevelop this in Cocoa it'd be a sweet deal for $20, and even now just for the speed & charts it's a good bargain item. Let's hope it gets worked on more than v.1 did.
