LJMAC  I recently purchased Yummy after trying out every FTP program available on OS X to see which best suited my needs. I was very impressed with the interface of ForkLift in particular, but it lacked several features I needed, and the developers were unwilling to add them. In fact, none of the software I tried had every feature I needed, but Yummy came the closest, and more importantly, the developer was very responsive indeed. He added a critical feature I needed in 1.8.2 (remote symlinks), and will be adding another in the next version. He also promptly fixed every bug I identified.

The interface could use an overhaul to be more like the leaders in this area (ForkLift and Flow), but it is far more feature rich than either of these programs - indeed, it is the most feature rich FTP client on the Mac. Besides, Yummy's interface is still perfectly functional and fairly easy to use anyway, and the interface overhaul it needs is promised for 2.0 in any case.

Anyway, the bottom line here is that Yummy is the most capable FTP client the Mac, even though it isn't the most expensive at all. And it has the most responsive developer - it may not be perfect yet, but you can be sure he will keep responding to user feedback until it is!

UNCOY  YummyFTP will import bookmarks from other ftp clients (Interarchy). It is one of the few FTP clients who saves a css file the first time (most require two saves to show up in the browser). But it's ugly and strange.

Cyberduck manages to save the first time as well (Forklife, Interarchy don't) and looks a whole lot better doing it.

Paid YummyFTP user moving over to Cyberduck.

GRYPHONENT  I wanted to use YummyFTP to sync to my iDisk but found that the application does not seem to support WebDAV protocol, which is required by .mac. Am I missing something, or is YummyFTP indeed missing out on the .mac accounts?

YUMMY SOFTWARE  Currently, Yummy FTP is a pure FTP client, therefore supporting FTP, SFTP and FTP over SSL protocols, and advertised as such.

As already stated, however, WebDAV / MobileMe / .Mac support, plus a whole boatload of great new features, are coming in v2.0, which is currently in development :)

VRH  I was looking for a highly flexible FTP client that would allow me to access all the features from the keyboard. For example I wanted to be able to switch between single pane and two pane views on the fly from the keyboard. I want to be able to navigate the client entirely from the keyboard.

I've used Interarchy for years and it's still a great client, but it seems to have gone a bit off track since it changed hands, and it doesn't have all the interface features I'd prefer. I also tried out Transmit, but that didn't fit the bill for several reasons.

Yummy FTP is exactly what I was looking for and I got to pick it up on sale for $15 from the yummysoftware web site (coupon code is "ONLY15YUM")! The developer is friendly and quick to respond to questions.

KARSTEN@BRIKSOFTWARE.COM  yeah, i want to second that. I've been using Yummy FTP for years now. I've never had problems and if I found something that bugged me I've just contacted the developer and he fixed it in no time.

MRCHIPS  I had been using YummyFTP with Snow Leopard before this update with no problems. This is another example of software that "just works." It's always there when I need to upload or download from one of our servers, supports easy "drag & drop," shows you exactly what's happening during an operation, and is generally very easy to use. Highly recommended!

TOAD  I tried this program. The first thing it put up was a screen saying my trial period was over. So I never got to try it. Ah well, back to the duck.

DONMONTALVO  No WebDAV support. So you can't use this with your MobileMe iDisk.

I'll stick to Cyber Duck. Free and works great.

DONMONTALVO  I'll be sure to try it when it is released! If it can resume uploads to WebDAV servers, that would be awesome.
