Cocoa NewsPost is a usenet auto-posting application that is easy to use and yet very powerful. Cocoa NewsPost supports PAR arachives, UUE encoding and yEnc and creates checksums for your posts. It will allow you to post folders full of files, or individule files from multiple locations on your hard drive(s) to multiple news groups.

Cocoa NewsPost features optional logging, part size control, PAR2 configuration control, multiple news group postings, and for registered users unlimited file posting to groups. As well as multiple server configurations and support for adding additional headers to your post.

Cocoa NewPost also features protection against use as a newsgroup spamming application. FOR neXtSoft does not want to do business with spammers.

JAMESADDISON WARNING: This software collects your IP address and sends it to the registration server. It states this several times in the License agreement:

"1.2.0 When you purchase a registration code from Cocoa NewsPost software and enter it into the software relevant registration information WILL be sent to the Cocoa NewsPost servers. This information is used to validate the legitimacy of the registration. The information is not stored any where on the Cocoa NewsPost servers or in any database accessible by the public or privately via any network."

Sorry, I'd rather NOT trust this guy to not store my IP. One of the great things about Usenet is it's anonymity, and this software destroys that. If the developer is that paranoid about people stealing his software then I don't trust him anyway. Hopefully someone will write some freeware that performs the same functions as this software.

I'm happy to pay the $20 for good software, but you don't get $20 + my IP address, name, etc. - that's not something I'm going to barter away.

FOR NEXTSOFT The only information that gets stored is what is required to retrieve your registration number in the event you loose it. The information is stored on a 256bit encrypted disk image within a filevault protected account's home folder on a computer using secure VM. The information kept on record is derived directly from the receipt both you and FOR neXtSoft receive at the time of purchase.

ANONYMOUS You cannot post missing segments with this application, only a complete file. Easy to use and stable.

ANONYMOUS This seems like a very nice program, as long as it's stable and reliable. I haven't test-driven it yet, but plan to once I know what the demo's limitations are.

Previous poster is incorrect in that there are several autoposting apps available for many OSX users as Applescripts which use Thoth on the backend: Ibis is the best IMHO, but if Cocoa NewsPost works it will avoid the inherent instability of working with an applescript: the scripts can get confused if you don't behave as they expect.

On quitting the demo, mention is made of a limit to the number of files that can be posted in the demo version, but the number one limited to is not given, so I don't dare attempt to initiate a post: it could be incomplete.

It's unclear (again, I haven't posted anything yet) as to whether post settings are stored as defaults or have to be re-entered with every launch.

Limits: 10 files when unregistered. That is, ten files not including the pars/text/sfv files. So if you post ten files it will post all ten plus the other parts of the post as requested.

You are also limited whether registered or not, to crossposting to no more than 5 groups at a time. This is to prevent spammers from using my program to disrupt usenet. I was hard pressed to allow more than 2 groups at a time, but the final descision was 5. As stated in the info about the program I do not want to do business with spammers. This app is strictly for non commercial use.

APRIL GENDILL I forgot to answer your other question, sorry about that.

Most settings are stored as defaults.

There are obviously some things that would be silly to store as a defult like the subject line but I'd hate to make you fille the whole thing out every single time you wanted to make a post.
