RICARDO SALAS I own a macbook pro and use a Novatel Merlin XU870 3G Modem. (The HUAWEI modems provided by ISPs in Chile, where I live don't have an antenna connection without which, the signal is not strong enough for 3G in the rural area that I am in) I found myself having to pay for this third party software since OSX does not support the Merlin unless it is used with Verizon, which does not provide service this country. (I resent that Apple forces you to use a specific ISP) Novatel provides excellent software for Windows for free (which BTW is better than launch2net - it is MUCH faster to dial and has SMS support) The changes needed in OSX to support the Novatel Merlin XU870 are very simple. Just letting you specify the number to dial and a password! What does it take for these bozos at Apple to change this? On top... if you install the purchased software from nova media as an administrator, you can't use it as a user... Please! (Version 1.8.8.6) |
