DESCRIPTION
Ashen is a ShapeShifter theme that changes the entire graphical appearance of Mac OS X. Ashen hearkens the days of old with its flat, sharp, and neutral style. There are no bright Aqua gel buttons here, or the poisonous greens of Luna. Ashen is a retro theme for a modern OS.

HEXADEC  I had Ashen on my Mac for quite a long time before my hard drive died and had to be replaced. Unfortunately, I'd made no backups of any of my customisations and so Ashen, along with all my icons etc, went with the old hard drive. It is a beautiful theme, very easy on the eyes and uncluttered. The perfect thing for when you get sick and tired of all the glossy Aqua stuff out there.

I've been trying to find Ashen again but the link to the file here doesn't work and the main site, The Flannel Effect, has a "coming soon" type message on the front page. Does anyone perhaps have the theme that they can send to me? I'd be eternally grateful.

ANONYMOUS  "Detailed minimalist" is a contradiction.

MACMAN  You are quite wrong. Simple designs can also be detailed. I doubt you'd get very far trying to convince Apple their beautifully simplistic, yet elegant hardware designs have no detail.

ANONYMOUS  Exactly, many minimalist designs have a lot of details, wether they be refined or not. Its the attention to detail that really cuts the cake.

ANONYMOUS  many designs that are called minimalist have lots of details. they're only called minimalist by people who don't know what minimalism is. look it up.

LUXURYLUKE  I like your theme, Chris. It's nice and calm, easy to read, and subtle in many ways. I think the previous review was misplaced. Nice touches on the corners actually are quite nice, especially when there are 20 windows on the screen, this makes it easier to see where one window ends... etc. I like the scrollbars, as well.

I don't know how much interface experience you have, but you've done a guiman's job, Chris. Keep up the good work.

ANONYMOUS  Scrollbars shouldn't be so 3d when the rest of the theme is so 2d, also... don't stick things that look like resize tabs in all the corners when you can't actually stick controls there.
