SHOULDNTDOTHAT  Tried DAP 2.1 for MAC and like many others it crashed way too often. Did uninstall script after seeing many complaints of browser issues after uninstaling.

I tried the Uninstall script. This did not actualy uninstall just directs me to a website where I filled out an honest review, clicked submit and was diected to a page teling me an error had occured.

Just the sent the app to the trash but had to enact my own house keeping. changing back all the preferences that DAP had taken over. Certinly not my worst experience plus this is ver 2.x on mac oposed to 8.x on win so my guess is they are just getting there feet wet.

Im just glad I used 2.1 as the revision history said 2.0 had all kinds of bugs.

ANONYMOUS  Download Accelerator Plus is the most horrible software I ever had since 1986 when I got my first Mac. This so-called DAP hijacked my browsers, both Safari and Friefox. And there was no way to get rid of it. PLEASE BEWARE OF THIS HORRIBLE SOFTWARE> IT REALLY SUCKS

ANONYMOUS  Beware this piece of crap! I installed it. The interface is inconvenient to say the least. When I tried to use the uninstall utility to get rid of all its parts in my system, it wouldn't work. I used spotlight to get rid of the parts I could find and then, guess what? Since I removed DAP, Safari crashes EVERY TIME I triy to download something. Every time. The only way around this is to press the option but when clicking on a download link. This forces Safari to do the download itself. How do I fix Safari now that DAP has wrecked it?

LIL' NICKY  Speed Download deserves 5 stars! (Or was it iGetter?) Anyway, it changed my life and I'm so happy now! No, no!! I think this software really sucks! It turned my teeth black, crashed my computer 100 times and caused my house to burn down!! Buy iGetter, it is just so WONDERFUL, a real Cat's Meow, folks!!! It is 100x faster, prevented my wife from miscarriage, and even washes my dishes without spotting if you integrate it into your dishwasher's controls. Hell, it might even succeed in warping the geometry of space-time!

Now in all seriousness. the reality is that 90% of these 5-star and 1-star reviews are written by the developers themselves and by people connected to the developers. Their goal is simply to manipulate the overall ratings of these products so they sell, sell, sell and so that the poor sheep...er, "end users" who might consider trying the competor's product are scared off. Let the truth be known; they're lies, more lies and damned lies all!

I don't know if Download Accelerator Plus really works. I'm already worn out from doing comparisons between SD3 and iGotcha, I mean "iGetter." Since imagine is everything these days, the developer of DAP might do well to rename his product "Screamin' Download Hyperaccellerator Plus Plus Plus A-go-go" and give it a more colorful post-modernist GUI. The developer might take an entirely new tactic: Provide Download Accelerator Plus as an API and sell it to Maytag for $10 million. He'd be rich and our dishes would get washed faster, and come out spotlessly clean. Just imagine, if this novel accelerator technology had been available to Voyager's crew, Captain Janeway could have gotten her people home in 6 months instead of seven long years.

ANONYMOUS  I have never had any luck with so called "download accelerators." I saw no difference in download speed/time when downloading Office Test Drive, America's Army and others with "normal" and "accelerated" speeds. I am currently on a dial-up line, but my friend down the street has DSL and I can get wireless at college. It's all fast enough for me.

WICCAN23  Speed Download is all you need and will keep you very satisfied. SpeedBit LTD appears to be a PC company trying to cash in on the Mac market with a poorly designed product. I would suggest that their Research and Devolpment Department spend some more time getting to know UNIX.

ANONYMOUS  This is not a bad choice of download manager for Windows, however on OS X it is terrible.

It makes me laugh when I compare it to Speed Download, which is simply incredible. If you do not currently use a download manager, I strongly suggest you check Speed Download out.

I sincerly hope few other Windows based applications like this are ported to OS X.

It does not even deserve to run in OS X. Filth!

MACMAN  You guys are being pretty harsh. Give them a chance! Making crude comments isn't going to get you anywhere. I doubt if any of you remember what happened to WinAmp for Mac? It stayed at Alpha, and a good bit of it had to do with feedback such as I'm seeing here.

Give them some encouragement -- don't drive them away! I'm giving it decent ratings because the app does work, though not everything's in place yet, including a Mac GUI.

However, overall GOOD work, and can't wait to see the next update! Thanks for bringing this over to the Mac.

DKI  this is an insult to the mac interface. the buttons at the top are unmovable/customizable. that is the very very very very most basic function that every mac app has and this doesnt even have it.

this program is just jimmy rigged for mac, and it totally feels like it. there are 3 other mac-only alternatives that I would recommend over this any day:

    speed download

    igetter

    download wizard

Sorry if this sounds harsh, but if you're going to run with the bulls and insult them by walking, you're going to be trampled.
