SQUIGLES Can't understand why people are whining, with all the software I have ever used. If I stumble across a problem, I let the developer know. That's not being a Beta tester, thats what you call being helpful. I did encounter a minor problem whilst using BBC. I sent an email to Freeverse, within a few hours I had an email response from them. (Version 2.2.3)

ANONYMOUS This game used to be free. Now it isn't. I don't mind folks who do alot of work getting money for their work, but you should also allow access to the older, free version. That way you can choose to pay for the extra bells and whistles or not. I choose not. (Version 2.02)

ANDREW DUNNING Please note that the previous version of Big Bang Chess still works; you're under no obligation to get the latest version. That said, this new version provides a number of excellent features. It has the option of using the GNU Chess engine, making it nearly impossible to beat at the highest difficulty level. It features nicer music. As well, there is a new Hot Seat mode, allowing one to see both players. As well, there are more games than just Chess included in the package; there's also Checkers, Reversi, Mancala, Backgammon, 4-in-a-Row, and Tic-Tac-Toe. At $24.95 US, it's an excellent deal. ANONYMOUS "That said, this new version provides a number of excellent features. It has the option of using the GNU Chess engine, making it nearly impossible to beat at the highest difficulty level." So lemme make sure I understand this correctly. I pay you $25 for the ability to not win? Ooh fun! That may be worth $26. (Version 2.02)

ANONYMOUS I'm tired of being your "freeware beta tester". That goes for most companies as well. Stick with the earlier free verison. (Version 2.02)

ANONYMOUS I am SO tired of developers and companies distributing software like it's going to be free and then turning around to ask for money. We ALL end up being FREE beta testers because most of us will report issues believing that free software can only be better without the bugs. I feel taken and I am DONE reporting bugs for ANYONE!!! ANONYMOUS Doesn't appear to be freeware anymore... don't replace the old version like I did. (Version 2.02)

YAKRALE I found this on another site, written by the developer, in case anyone is interested: Since Big Bang Chess 1.0 was released six months ago, we've been working very hard to improve it and think it's the best featured, most Mac OS X friendlly, easiest to network, master-level playing Chess game available. In addition to the tons of new features, it is now part of a suite of games "Big Bang Board Games" (including Backgammon, Chess, Reversi, Mancala and 4-in-a-row) that will be available in retail outlets for $24.95. See http://www.freeverse.com/bbbg/ for more information. All those games are yours for the one price. My apologies that [the other site] doesn't track that above, I'll make sure to post it in the description in the future. We are a company, and that it is no longer "free" is pretty irrelivant; there was no promise or obligration. We released an early version to gather feedback and because we thought it was cool and stable enough that people would enjoy it. That version won't expire, so if you have it, nothing has changed. You're under no obligation and never were. Anyway, we are one of the very few Mac-first game companies, and Big Bang Chess is a Mac product-- not a port of some year old PC game. We're proud of it, proud it won two Apple Design Awards, and very happy to have worked hard expanding it to include a suite of games, and bringing it to you for under thirty bucks. Try it, buy it if you agree it's way cool. Please. :-)

ANONYMOUS Really cool graphics and features, just very poor AI. (Version 1.21)

ANONYMOUS The AI is not smart enough. Even the so called hardest level is much to easy. That is sad because it´s such a nice looking game (Version 1.21)

KEVIN I like the idea of it, but on my powerbook G4 (500MHz) with 512MB ram, it is just too slow... So slow that I cannot believe all the good comments -- I mean, there must be something wrong with my version??? (I am on version 1.21) When this game starts, the CPU goes to, and stays at, 100%... (according to activity monitor). I have killed all other programs, and it is still just too darn slow. The music doesn't even play without "skipping", as there just is not enough CPU left for it... If I hear about a faster version, I will revisit this novel attempt at a new "universe of gaming"... (Version 1.21)
