DESCRIPTION
KeyCue helps you to use your Mac OS X applications more effectively. Just hold down the Command key for a while - KeyCue comes to help and shows a table of all currently available keyboard shortcuts. When you have found the desired shortcut in the KeyCue table, just type it and continue working as usual. The KeyCue window will disappear automatically. You no longer need to memorize and remember key combinations, just press the command key and KeyCue tells you what you want to know. Over time, you will automatically remember frequently used shortcuts and become a power user of your favorite applications, working much more efficiently.

IAMDORIAN As has been echoed by other reviewers, this is a nice little app, and useful for learning new key strokes. HOwever, the price is way too hight for this sort of thing. As with lots of clever applications, this is one which should be included in Apples OSX; it's very Mac-ish. It does need to be priced like the utility it is. This is not some major software project, but it is nice. At 1/3 of the cost it might gain a real following, but I too would not have paid for this had it not been that it came in a MacUpdate Promo bundle. And it's not that I am a cheapskate - I have paid form many dozens of small independently developed software apps and utilities, and continue to support small developers. (Version 4.4)

AVEDISWOLF This app is very helpful with learning some shortcuts. Nothing I had to do, but helpful learning some new ones. I got this with the MacUpdate bundle, but looking at the price tag for this, if it wasn't included in this bundle, I would have never even thought of trying it. Even after using it, and liking it, I still think the straight out price is more than I would be willing to pay. Great app, Drop the price in half, and it would be a 5 star app! (Version 4.3)

XPLICIT Works good, but much too expensive for such an app. I mean, come on, it's just a little tool displaying some shortcuts. Dear developer, maybe someone has to remind you that users are not paying what it's worth to you but what it's worth to them?! (Version 4.3)

JERRY KRINOCK The main new feature added in the latest update, 4.3, activation by "double tapping and holding the ⌘ key", instead of just holding it down for X seconds, sounds complicated, but it is a huge improvement. Although I do naturally hold the ⌘ key down when I can't remember the keyboard shortcut, I also do it while I'm thinking of what I want to do next, and in these instances KeyCue was annoying. The new activation method is a great idea and, if the developer has not done so already, I'd recommend making it the default trigger setting for new users. Users who were annoyed as I was by previous versions should give 4.3+ a try. Open the KeyCue Settings ► Activation panel and set to "press ⌘ twice and hold". Cool app. Next challenges for the developer: Give me cues for my function keys (F1, F2, etc.), and cues for keyboard shortcuts that I have set using QuicKeys X3. (Version 4.3)

GREEKTRANSCODER.ORG The two Ergonis utilities that I use daily are PopChar and Typinator, which are simply great. I got KeyCue as part of the macility bundle. I wouldn't have purchased it separately (so I removed a star from the value line), but as an addition to the other two applications in that bundle, it's a great value. I'd like to be able to set a longer delay before the program activates, or choose a different key combination, but all in all it works very well. (Version 3.0)

HERBERTKORNFELD To address GREEKTRANSCODER.ORG "I'd like to be able to set a longer delay before the program activates." Unless you are trying to set up a delay of more than 2 seconds, this is already possible. In the applications preferences, you can set a delay ranging anywhere from less than 1/4 of a second, to 2 seconds. (Version 3.0)

BOOLOO Why this app opens the port 50042 ? Flame (http://www.macupdate.com/info.php/id/22631) shows the problem. (Version 3.0)

ERGONIS SOFTWARE This only ensures unique license keys on different machines - no need to worry about any spyware or other malware functionality. (Version 3.0)

XENOPHILE Greedy and rude. Checking for unique serials is certainly justifiable for expensive, complex applications that are used in a workplace, like Photoshop or MS Office, but for this overpriced one-trick pony? What, you're scared dad will be using in the study at the same time his kids are using it upstairs while doing their homework? Maybe you should develop an app worth stealing before adding phone-home functionality. (Version 4.3)

JAZZADDICT Good .app but it messes up the dock hiding function. When attemptimg to hide (or show) the dock using command>option>D, while holding down the keys the dock will hide (or appear if down to begin with) but as soon as the key command is released it goes back to it's previous state. A bit annoying for us dock hiders, but not a very critical bug. Otherwise, this .app saves me a lot of time from fliping through menus to find a key command, and it keys my hand off the mouse which is a must. (Version 2.0.1)

WILLIAMD The most CPU/Disk intensive app I have ever run! And then it produced NO menu listing at all. May be incompatible with Unsanity Xounds (for menu & system sounds) (Version 2.0)

ANONYMOUS Geat app. I just bought it, but noticed it is a CPU process hog. Run KeyCue, run Terminal, type "top" (without the quotes) and see it uses up to 70% CPU time. Ouch. (PBook 17" 10.3.9) (Version 1.1)
