SEAN FROM KERRY  Have used it for a few months and it works well with my TiBook 667 and MacMini 1.42 with a MOTU 828mk2. Far easier to use this when recording through Digital Performer than opening GarageBand to use its tuner (which is very good as well). Cheap but the multiple options for purchase are a bit confusing.

TOMIS  GarageBand2: has a tuner built-in and comes with all new macs

Korg: my portable chromatic tuner, sure it's $40 street price, but who really wants to carry their laptop around with them just to tune at a gig

CULTURE OF ONE  Funny thing; not all of us can afford to buy a new mac. You will also notice that this software works on OS 10.2 - perhaps another hint that it's intended for use by people who have better ways to spend their money than feeding Apple every time they put out a new computer or operating system - like buying professional quality sound recording software...

Personally, I needed a tuner for fine intonation adjustments in my lesson studio and instrument repair shop. This is a lot more economical than buying a stand-alone tuner. The portable consumer tuners can't touch this software when it comes to configurability - good luck setting your Korg to different tuning standards - and just try buying a professional tuner for this price! The people at Katsura have my respect and thanks for their efforts to provide a quality computer-based tuning suite. Keep up the good work!

ALFREDO CAUOMOUS  What's with the 10 different products? 10x the profits I guess. That's pretty bad business if you ask me. Same exact program, just charge 5x for it..why not?!

This program itself isn't even very good. Lots of crashes, slo, non-accurate, and looks bad.

KATSURA  i'm not sure if you are talking about my Chromatic Tuner.

if anything crashes, please send the crash log to the author so that it can be analyzed and fixed.

fyi, it works just fine on my machine.

THEHAGINAUT  It appears that the reason the developer offers several different tuners is because each is intended for a different audience. If you are a casual stringed or wind instrument player, the chromatic tuner will probably suffice. If you run a studio, and need more precise tuning, you can buy the stroboscopic tuner. The precision and octave range increases with price. The tuner is thoughtfully also offered as an AudioUnit plugin for those using DAWs.

TONY  I've looked for something like this for years. I've tried everything I could find, and this is by far the best. I'm using it on a Ti 800, and it's PERFECT!

PHILIP  This thing totally sucks. A bogus tuner more like it. Not very accurate. Not very responsive. much better options are available to my liking. not recommended by me.

KATSURA  Thanks for your feedback. I'll try to make it more responsive in the next release. The pitch detection algorithm Chromatic Tuner uses is very light weight (not processor intensive) and has certain characteristics. If it doesn't detect the pitch accurately, please try to play the sound closer to the microphone and/or adjust the input volume in order to reduce the ambient noise.

KATSURA  Perfect Pitch looks and works great, and it has advanced features. But it consumes a lot of CPU time. Run Activity Monitor on 10.3 or Process Viewer on 10.2 to see the difference.

Chromatic Tuner is free to try, too. It's $5 to register while Perfect Pitch suggests $15 donation.
