DESCRIPTION
Gimp.app is a self contained appication bundle of the GNU Image Manipulation Program for Mac OS X. Gimp.app is droppable, uses the gimp-print package built into OS X, and uses the system's default web browser for help and web browsing requests.
WHAT'S NEW
Known issues with Intel native experimental 2.4.5r1 build:
  • keyboard shortcuts disabled to work around text input bug
  • loading a help page causes spinning beachball of death
  • dropping files on already running gimp doesn't open file
  • probably other stuff
REQUIREMENTS
Intel Mac running Mac OS X 10.5 or later.

APPSCOUT  This seems to run without X11. Menus are 'Mac' menus, not Linux ones.

Tho', if I start X11 before or after I start 2.4.5r2, my iMac locks up. Hard restart is required.

I installed this version of X11...

X11.pkg version 2.2.0.1

from

http://trac.macosforge.org/projects/xquartz

Inkscape works fine now.

But Gimp.app 2.2.11 and GIMPshop 2.2.11 do NOT start up.

Have noticed that 'Hiding' Gimp is not possible, unless a document is also open in Gimp. Even a blank one.

Is this a 'NeoGIMP'?  (Version 2.4.5r2)

ARVIDTP  WARNING TO NEW USERS:

2.4.5r2 is NOT the stable version of Gimp. There are still some problems with this version. Most people would be better served by the official version that still runs under X11.

BTW - I cannot type anything into the save dialog box in this version to name the file I am going to save - the keyboard types through to the other windows and chooses tools instead of naming the file.  (Version 2.4.5r2)

GARYI  I must be missing something fundemental. All I get is one menu item, 'gimp' with next to no options in it. I tried dragging a JPG onto the app with no luck.

The icon looks nice.

PETER DA SILVA  I wonder how hard it would be for MacUpdate to add filters for required OS X version, so Tigers wouldn't need to be tantalized by Leopard-only apps? :)  (Version 2.4.5r2)
