Gimp is a self contained appication bundle of the GNU Image Manipulation Program for Mac OS X. Gimp.app is droppable, uses the gimp-print package built into OS X, and uses the system's default web browser for help and web browsing requests.
update most libraries (BABL, GEGL, gtk, pango, cairo and others)
the noise reduction plugin GREYCstoration is now able to work on croma and luma channels separately
Changes:
now GIMP uses a smaller font size for it's menus because there were many complaints about the previous font size setting. Of course, you can set any value you like, by editing the file "Libray/Application Support/Gimp/gtkrc" in your home directory.
New plugin:
Resynthesizer: Given a sample of a texture, Resynthesizer generates more of that texture. The most surprinsing usage is to remove objects from images and replace them with the surrounding background texture.
SVOOP If you don't want to click twice all the time (first to focus the window, second e.g. to select a tool), open a terminal and issue the following command:
APEMAN Hold off downloading 2.6.7 or just move 2.6.6. 2.6.7 took over my screen. There were no menus, and the placeholder window was enormous. I couldn't resize it. It has white text on it but was so large I couldn't figure out what it was. It brought my Mini to a halt.
I am running it on a 2gig Intel Mini 1gig RAM.
10.5.8
Now I don't have GIMP installed.
Oh well. Will download when this issue is addressed. (Version 2.6.7)
APEMAN The version down the page that doesn't need X11 works. It's still a work in progress, but it works. (Version 2.6.7)

RON BELL LELE is right. Quit GIMP then edit "Library/Application Support/Gimp/gtkrc" in your home directory and change "gtk-font-name" to something like Lucida Grande 12, instead of 936. Then relaunch GIMP. (Version 2.6.7)

TELECOMM I can also confirm the suggestions above, go to ~/Library/Application Support/Gimp and open the file gtkrc with TextEdit. Change the last line to somethint like
gtk-font-name = "Lucida Grande 9.8"
and things will be usable again. (Version 2.6.7)

ONE78MAN Gimp! It's not Photoshop but still you can learn how to use it and realize special works.
And if you are not a "pro" then Gimp is the perfect choice! :D (Version 2.6.6)
BIGDAVE56 I really like the GIMP, and applaud the developer for supporting us PPC dinosaurs. However, 2.6.5 continues a bug that was introduced in 2.6.4- some menu items and hover balloons inexplicably appear in Spanish. I have enough Spanish savvy to guess what's what for the most part, but this is really kind of annoying. (Version 2.6.5)
To install Gimp simply drop it to your Application folder.
X11 2.3.2 or higher recommended
To use this build of Gimp 2.6.4, it is recommend that you use X11 version 2.3.2 or higher. This version has many advantages over the previous ones. Most of all it will
* support graphic tablets
* support better font sizes / display resolution (96 dpi)
