SVOOP  If you don't want to click twice all the time (first to focus the window, second e.g. to select a tool), open a terminal and issue the following command:

defaults write org.x.x11 FocusFollowsMouse -string YES

APEMAN  Thanks to LeLe and Ron Bell for their help with the huge font trouble that was making GIMP 2.6.7 unusable.

They advised me to go to /Library/Application Support/Gimp and open gtkrc and change the last line from Lucinda Grande 936 to Lucinda Grande 12.

I restarted GIMP and everything works fine now.

Thank you Thank you Thank you.

And I thank the GIMP community for their hard work.

APEMAN  Hold off downloading 2.6.7 or just move 2.6.6. 2.6.7 took over my screen. There were no menus, and the placeholder window was enormous. I couldn't resize it. It has white text on it but was so large I couldn't figure out what it was. It brought my Mini to a halt.

I am running it on a 2gig Intel Mini 1gig RAM.

10.5.8

Now I don't have GIMP installed.

Oh well. Will download when this issue is addressed.

APEMAN  The version down the page that doesn't need X11 works. It's still a work in progress, but it works.

RON BELL  LELE is right. Quit GIMP then edit "Library/Application Support/Gimp/gtkrc" in your home directory and change "gtk-font-name" to something like Lucida Grande 12, instead of 936. Then relaunch GIMP.

TELECOMM  I can also confirm the suggestions above, go to ~/Library/Application Support/Gimp and open the file gtkrc with TextEdit. Change the last line to somethint like

gtk-font-name = "Lucida Grande 9.8"

and things will be usable again.

ONE78MAN  Gimp! It's not Photoshop but still you can learn how to use it and realize special works.

And if you are not a "pro" then Gimp is the perfect choice! :D

BIGDAVE56  I really like the GIMP, and applaud the developer for supporting us PPC dinosaurs. However, 2.6.5 continues a bug that was introduced in 2.6.4- some menu items and hover balloons inexplicably appear in Spanish. I have enough Spanish savvy to guess what's what for the most part, but this is really kind of annoying.

ANITARAJ  Unable to open in 10.5.6. Sad to see this is not tested. Like the previous commenter, would be nice if it run on it's own with default Mac menus.

NEONBLUE2  Do you have the latest XQuartz installed? Because it does work on 10.5.x if you fulfil the system requirements (which aren't actually on this page).
