REQUIREMENTS
Mac OS X 10.3 or later (works with 10.2 but has minor glitches).
JOBBY It would be useful if Subscriber supported Growl as a notification method.
Supporting standard keystrokes like Cmd-Left in the text entry field would be nice, too :)
More worryingly, what is amber.x-dns.com? Subscriber tries to connect to this at startup - probably just a version check (but there's no option to disable this, and there should be). If you deny connections to this address, email notifications don't work. In fact, Subscriber doesn't even try to connect to my mail server. Is it trying to send email via x-dns.com, and if so: why, and what guarantee do we have that our email addresses aren't being harvested? It doesn't inspire confidence :( (Version 1.1b1)
ANONYMOUS Saw this application I thought I'd give it a try. However, the app tends to crash when I go to a internal ASP page repeatedly. (Version 1.0.2)
DAVID DEUTSCH We have responded to all emails we have received about Subscriber. If anyone has sent us an email and not received a reply, we'd be obliged if you would re-send it (the address is support@charcoaldesign.co.uk). (Version 1.0.2)
OHWELL ok new review, due to the newer version... it works well, if a little less than intuitive to use in some aspects such as setting the time interval... but not a bad app at all and does work well once you get the hang of it. (Version 1.0.1r2)
OHWELL The time interval needs to be adjustable, currently there is only one time interval which only allows for checking every hour... (Version 1.0.1r2)
DAVID DEUTSCH We think we've reproduced the problem: it now appears to affect only URLs Pasted into Subscriber from the Clipboard - drag and drop from the address bar of a browser works correctly on our systems.
We'd be grateful if you could contact us at support@charcoaldesign.co.uk so that we can make sure we're seeing the same problem you are. (Version 1.0.1r1)
OHWELL yes, that is the issue: copy and paste does not work but drag 'n drop does... something of a shortcoming there.
and it is, to my mind, necessary to have an option so that the user can set the time interval to, say, check a site every minute. sounds like overkill, checking a site every minute? well, no, that is what i need.
thanks! (Version 1.0.1r2)

OHWELL still does not recognize URLs for me... (Version 1.0.1r1)
