DRADRIENYOUELL I have not yet used iRecordMusic, I must have bought it in a MU Promo. AmbrioiaSW's WireTap Studio is the soul of simplicity for sounds I want to record; not concerned about channels, waveforms etc... I am mentioning an alternative, that's all. Adrien.

ASH435 I just updated as prompted and now I'm getting no sound (and no recordings either, even though it goes through the motions). So no iPod content for me this week...

BUGSMAN (I KILL GERMS) Audio Hijack does all of this, and much more. I love the Mac community for its development of great freeware and shareware apps, but folks, you have to do your homework! AudioHijack is way ahead of this. Drop it, find a real niche, and then blow our socks off.

ASH435 Current version seems to work well. Multiple muted recordings seems to record fine. Macupdate says it's PPC but it is in fact a universal application. It's well worth the registration fee if you want BBC content to listen to on your iPod at your convenience. I haven't played with the scheduling yet but what would be really cool is if the software was able to automatically record certain programmes from the 'listen again' pages (when I happen to be online, rather than live). A bit like Podcasting, but without the required BBC commitment.

ASH435 This App is amazingly useful but not intuitive. When I select record for a while and select okay to everything, I can't then press play on the media player. The 'blob' goes orange... Why does a second window open yet they both indicate that recording it taking place? I tried opening multiple copies of the software but the audio streams that I recorded overlapped with each other. Sorry if I'm being dim.

PIRX Demo does not seem to be importing tune names from iTunes. Also manual input does not work. Otherwise, good idea, good concept.

ANONYMOUS I've only begun learning this app in demo mode and found skipping on the saved audio file that was not present during the recording session. I currently suspect it has to do with my choosing the LAME encoding (to avoid creating the large, albeit temporary AIFF file). Could the CPU usage claimed in the documentation be extreme enough to cause bumps in the recording proceess, though no noticable delays to my computer-use were observed? 768 MB RAM

DAN yeah man, that's just a horrible way to deal with people. Generally, if you want to be answered and get things done you should first try the courteous and respectful approach. If you start off by attacking, you make people think and behave as if they need to defend themselves from you. What was it that bothered you so much again? Software numbering systems? Save the heat for something graver.

MICHAEL iRecordMusic is easy to use by someone who doesn't want to spend much time learning how to use it and just wants to produce quality streaming audio recordings. I can do all my scheduling in iCal and then listen to all my favorite programs on my iPod. I've a loyal subscriber to two NPR stations but unfortunately miss some of my favorite programs on a regular basis... no more! Now I just need an iPod with more capacity. I have on occasion had iRecordMusic miss a scheduled recording but usually it's been due to sloppy scheduling on my part - an event I moved in iCal without re-syncing with iRecordMusic or some other blunder. I highly recommend this application. I run this on a 12" G4 Powerbook with 640MB of RAM and have a cable connection to the Internet.
