ANONYMOUS  Although the GUI is good I had a problem insofar as I had no music that accompanies this app. I made 3 seperate requests elucidating the problem and finally got an answer to make sure the Sound panel was configured properly (something I mentioned in every email to the developer) Ridiculous and inept support from an inattentive developer translates into the STRONG possibility that if YOU have a problem it will be handled in a likewise fashion. In short I feel I wasted my money!

HUGH ALLAN  Very abusive customer, but I managed to refund him for Mah Jong Solitaire 2 although he refused a refund for Phoenix Ball.

Spammed every listing for my products, including ones he didn't buy with artifically low ratings in order to gain revenge on me because I wasn't quite snappy enough in my replies and he refused to go through the steps required to fix his problem.

Got a year of the best Mah Jong Solitaire game on Mac and updates for 12 lousy bucks. You've kicked my company when it was down, thanks a bundle.

ANONYMOUS  HOGWASH!!! I never spammed any such applications. I gave an HONEST accouunt of the facts as they really were. In fact I own another of this author's apps and gave it an exemplery review when I installed it. I rightfully criticised his handling of my support requests. If he feels I spammed his other applications without installing them then he is not only distorting the facts (once again) but suffering from delusions. I can PROVE my contentions of his handling of my requests for support. I would NEVER act with malice to criticise applications I did not install or attempt to dishonor anyone. I called it the way it was.THE HONEST WAY. I take grave umbrage at his spurious and malicious allegationswhich are so transparent.

CUSTOMIZER!  The feature i'd like to see from Shanghai is the ability to put my own graphics on the tiles!

HOWARD  My big beef - everyone's Mahjong games on Mac OS X use anti-ailiased graphics - the old Shanghi game from Activision has not yet been surpassed with it clear non-fuzzy tiles!

H. ALLAN  In slow cpu mode it doesn't use any kind of fancy smoothing, supposidly for an extra speed kick but I'm not sure how effective it is.

But in the next major version you get to set all the graphics option exactly the way you want.

ANONYMOUS  Totally agree. ELected to hack my own graphics into the Konfabulator Shanghai widget as a stopgap measure, hehehe.

DAYOS_X  Absolutely gorgeous. Finally someone manages to get it... well, mostly right. There's still the annoying MIDI music. Let's hope for a proper music implementation in an update. (A simple dropping of MP3s and AACs into the music folder would be nice.)

Also, as a Shanghai clone, the play oughta be updated to be more engaging. How about this? Make it so the tiles can intermittently grow legs, get up, and walk to another side of the table. Yeah, that's the ticket.

H. ALLAN  Thanks! It has a music playlist editor that can play MP3/AAC/etc but I agree it's still a little goofy sound wise. I'll work on it.

Next release is the "Everything works as it should do" release, should be out in two weeks. It'll also have another graphics jump.

DONEAGLE  This update is totally AWSOME, the best just got better! The most addictive game I have ever seen on a computer, plus the 3D rendering is a great touch to make the game more challenging and enjoyable.

Don't know how it can get any better than this. Great work gentelmen!!

DTRATOR1  On the Mac, still the same old Shanghai after all these years. No wait. Decades! On the PC, it's taken on a totally different form... for many years now. It's called Kyodai Mahjongg.

http://www.kyodai.com/

And how hard can it be to program something in 3D? Look at GLTron! Besides, there are free 3D programming resources.

http://www.blender3d.com/

At this rate, I'd be happy to shell out 30 bucks just for a good copy of Kyodai Mahjongg for OS X. Anybody else with me?

ANONYMOUS  I'm a switcher and the only program I miss from my PC days is Kyodai MahJong. Like the last post, I would pay good money for a Mac version.

H. ALLAN  If you email me at support@bhprojects.com I can yak about it, but it's not anything for a public forum.

Always on the look out for criticism, as long as it's not "Oh why oh why did they not do a real mahjong game".

Actually I prefer Shanghai Dynasty to Kyodai myself.

PIXEL  Kyodai Mahjongg is the best there is on the PC, I offered to start a fund to send the developer a Mac to port it several years ago.

ANONYMOUS  I just get a black screen. So far it says I've played 9 games and I haven't played a single one yet. This is budget.

H. ALLAN  Yup, it's running a 100% rewritten OpenGL engine and if your machine isn't up to the task you get a blank screen. I realise this is very very unfriendly and I will build a Quartz graphics driver.

It's doubled it's lines of code in the last 4 months, and good beta testers are hard to find.

If you have any problems running it, try MJS1, it's simple pimple and will run on anything.

DONEAGLE  Been playing this for a loooonng time now, but this version has a couple of quirks. The mac layout is showing an uneven number of tiles, impossible to clear the layout, Also several errors in scoring, eg: sometimes shows score of 396 or so, when only have 84 tiles to start? Do not think I make that many errors. Don't know if this is a "bug" or what.

Otherwise it is a great application, very addictive & enjoyable to play!
