DESCRIPTION
Tomato Torrent... The main goal of this project was to separate the BitTorrent code from the Macintosh code, so that either can be updated without having to modify the other. I got 80% of the download window's current functionality implemented within 3 days of starting the project. Then I decided to finish just a bit more, and the project just kept getting bigger and bigger.

Features include:

  • Built on BitTorrent 4.2.0
  • Remembers recent downloads and where you’ve saved them to, making resumes quick and easy
  • Shows detailed download statistics
  • Shows detailed information about torrent files
  • User interface for torrent generation allows you to specify torrent comments
  • User interface for starting a torrent tracker on your Mac
  • Most BitTorrent options are fully customizable
  • Supports Unicode torrents
WHAT'S NEW
Version 1.5.1 adds Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard support.
REQUIREMENTS
Mac OS X 10.4 or later.

HALEAKALARI  wow. i've never seen so many negative reviews for a solid program, just because the people writing them can't figure out how to configure their own damn computers. you're all a bunch of retards. you need to open the correct ports in os x's firewall and if using a wireless connection, in your router as well, for any torrent client to work. end of story.

the problems you all have with tomato obviously arise from not understanding the basics. and to the person who called this application "junk", eat a fat one. this was one of the first alternative torrent clients for os x and it is actually fairly configurable (see "advanced settings" when you start up a torrent). cripes people, get yourselves together.

MISHA  I think the bigger issue with TT is that a lot of trackers don't work with it and that development seems to have ceased.

APPL LVR  this client is the only one that does not crash my router! all the others ive tried have stopped internet service through my router, too traffic-heavy, i think. this is a great little program, very fast start and resume.

MISHA  The tracker is probably configured to reject Tomato Torrent. A lot of trackers only let approved clients access them. Try Transmission instead.

GSLIDE06  Just installed 1.5 version supporting OS X 10.3.9 and I had some trouble. Basically a movie or tv torrent downloads through Tomato with no issue and the length of the download is reflected.

Then when I try to play the avi through a Media Player(Quicktime) or burn it to DVD a black/blank screen appears. No images or volume. This also happened when I used the Azureus client.

Any help is tremendously appreciated!!

MACUPDATE ADMIN  Do a 'Get Info' command on any torrent, in the Get Info' window, change the 'Open with:" to whichever bittorrent app you prefer.

STARBARK  i would start using this if the torrents are compiled in just one window rather than multiple small windows. :(

MSADESIGN  This is an excellent and free application, and you morons posting snide remarks about an intel version should be ashamed. Go write it yourself.

Sheesh.

PXL  My only complaint is how easy it is for someone to quit the application by clicking the (x) button. Nothing more stupid when having the (x) button as a quit command.

Come on... it almost 2007. New version please!

GLORYOFMYSTORY  so for the most part i like tomato torrent. however, i seem to have a lot of trouble seeding files...after a file finishes d/l-ing, it promptly stops uploading which is hell on my ul/dl ratio [eek!] and i can't figure out for the life of me how to get it to seed.

my best option thus far has been to crank up the max u/l rate, which is v. unhappy-making on my connection.

help would be greatly appreciated =D
