DESCRIPTION
DVDpedia is a powerful movie cataloging application that retrieves all information about your DVDs and videos from the internet.
It lets you search all the Amazon sites (US, UK, Canada, France, Germany and Japan) plus IMDB and several other international sites for information about your movies, either by entering keywords or using an iSight or a scanner. You can create smart collections and start a wish list and a borrowed list so you never loose a DVD again. View your entries as a standard list, browse only the covers or use the web view for a personalized look of DVDpedia. Share your collection with friends, using the customizable HTML export templates.

JUAN MANUEL J.M. RUIZ LOPEZ Absolutely the best investment i made as a switcher from pc to mac with more than 1200 movies in my database (ant movie catalog) DVDpedia was able to import them in a breeze I like the flexibility to index the files the way i want because they're on different locations so i name my collections and numbers according to the stored location, never have to search long for one of them. The ability to search moviesites like moviemeter, Filmaffinity, etc... is something not found on others so i can keep the movie info localized. Features: Would love to see more templates and print templates but this has nothing to do with the features they're rich packed dvdpedia is aviable in Spanish, French, German, Italian & Dutch localizations (love that last) Easy of use: well designed a kid could work with it, and its so flexible that it's even challenging for more pro users. Stability: using it almost a year now and it never crashed on me Value: worth every cent of it one of my first apps i will instal on my mac. (Version 4.5.4)

KOSOVAR1 Version 4.5.3 "improvements:" >List view button updated >Added missing gradient to reflection in Add/Edit panel >Date Added not set for some users This called an update? Hardly. This is a free promotion for the developer. Sure, this is a very well conceived program, but don't invite ridicule by rearranging a few pixels, just so you can get extra press for your wares. Do the work and stop playing Limewire. There are plenty of significant improvements that can be offered beyond "Added missing gradient to reflection." (Version 4.5.3)

BRUJI Thanks for your feedback. We focused so much on Snow Leopard compatibility with version 4.5.2 that we missed two bugs for that update, the gradient in the Add/Edit window and the Date Added field. We regularly run a long beta testing period and would have caught these bugs before release. But because of the release of Snow Leopard yesterday we had to shorten our testing period. The version change was necessary so that users who had already upgraded to 4.5.2 would see the new version. Usually for something small like this we wouldn't have done a listing on MacUpdate but the site is great in that it reads our appcast.xml files and knows automatically when there is a new version out. So we don't even have to list an update - MacUpdate does it for us. Of course being on MacUpdate two days in a row is an added bonus for us and all the users who discover a great app. (Version 4.5.3)

STEVE FRAWLEY Great Program. I also synch my catalog with several Macs using DropBox and sync to my iPhone with DVDPedia. I used DVDAttache for a few years and imported most data without having to reenter. I compared quite a few before switching. (Version 4.5.2)

MOTORCITYMAC This app is so Mac! It's very easy to use, yet very powerful and customizable. It does all you could need to catalog your DVD collection, more efficiently than anything else out there. Truly a "Six Color Killer App". In Applespeak...that says a lot! Thank You Bruji, for your excellent design, and constant support. You make the difference for "the rest of us". :-) (Version 4.5.1)

TIAGO I own licenses to both DVDpedia and Bookpedia but have never been able to really use the softwares, because the Info Views are so bad. Delicious Library on the other hand is beautiful to look at (it has a truly designed interface) but it doesn't offer all the functionality of the 'pedias. Oh... How I wish the "Info View" in all these 'pedia apps was not ugly as hell... And yes I tested them all, including every single extra listed in the site... There's not a single one that looks even slightly "designed"... they're just "put together". How hard is it to hire some real and talented designers to create amazing and professional looking templates to make the apps "look" as good as I know they "are"? What good is it to rely on user contributed templates if (apparently) only amateur and/or bad designers seem to give it a try? This is just a comment... I will not post it as a review (with stars) because I really believe these apps ARE good and I really hope they LOOK good in a near future... But still, the lack of proportion, alignment and visual hierarchy to the information, in all these view templates is incredibly low quality... I know taste is a matter of personal opinion, but I truly don't believe ANY good designer can take a look at those templates and not be disgusted. (Version 4.4.3)

BRUJI Thanks for your feedback. Of course we're sad to hear that you deem the info view templates lacking but fortunately the info view is based on HTML which means it is fully customizable. You can edit any of the existing templates to fit your style or you can write your own from scratch. Take a look at the DVDpedia Help file under 'Working with DVDpedia > Customizing info view templates' for more information about that. More importantly we'd love it if you were to share your amazing templates with the rest of the Pedia community. Just send them to us and we'll put them up on the Extras page for download and we could even update our current included templates. If your are not HTML savvy a design would also be appreciated as it would allow us to see what you have in mind. We're always working on improving the Pedias, including the templates, and we love getting input from our users. (Version 4.4.3)

XENOPHILE Heh, I have the opposite opinion of DVDpedia. I love the info view, it's minimalist design is easy to read and devoid of distractions. What initially drew me to DVDpedia was it's GUI and design. Delicious Library? Ugly. WTF is up with the fake wood? And the interface is an abomination, requiring the user to mouse to and fro across the entire app window for tasks that are routinely grouped together. The info window is cramped into a tall, narrow space. What I'd like to know most is, WTF came up with the simulated wood interface, and do they cover their house, car, etc with fake wood panels to be stylish? (Version 4.5.1)

STEFANK60 agree with Xenophile. pedia looks great and has fab functionality. Delicious looks anything but - I also detest the fake wood and the whole look is os cheesy and crass - it turns my stomach. (Version 4.5.1)

KBEAT I've got a huge collection of DVDs and Video Games, and have long wanted a first class library management tool. I've tired FileMaker, web based utilities, Delicious Library, and a few lesser known shareware programs, and I can say this is hands down the best of the bunch. It's easy to use, feature rich, very snappy even with large collections, and takes full advantage of Leopard's features. Heck, with the cover flow feature in the finder, I rarely have to open it other than to add new titles. It even has a nice iPhone companion app. I wish they offered an "all in one" version of the pedia apps, but that's really the only complaint I have, and that's not really a complaint. If you're looking to manage your collection of DVDs, Games, Books, or CDs on a Mac, the Pedia apps are the best tools for the job. (Version 4.4.1)

DIGITAL FURY Almost perfect. It's fast, stable and finds almost all the weird books and movies I have. However, even though I only used DVDpedia and Bookpedia, you should really merge all these applications. (Version 4.3)

AETNARIA Pedias are separate to favor people that want 'just that', I think. If you're looking for an all-in-one, Booxter might be closer to your aim. (Version 4.3)

XPLICIT What about a single "pedia" for all my media stuff? One application for every different kind is somehow annoying. Come on, four apps which do nearly the same, that's a laugh. (Version 4.2.1)

BRUJI The main reason the programs are separate is because we want them to be good at what they do - if you have large collections then putting them all together into one application will mean a slower program and less specialized features. It also allows us to keep the price low for users who are only interested in one application. (And for those interested in more we offer bundle discounts.) Having said that though, the Pedia programs do have some integration between them. You can link a Bookpedia book to a DVDpedia movie, for example. Sure, you're using two programs but clicking on the link will take you directly to the other program with the related entry highlighted. Alternatively, there's also the Amazonpedia widget or Spotlight which allow you to search all your Pedia libraries at once (as well as Amazon with the widget) so you don't have to have all the programs running just to check for an entry. (Version 4.2.1)

TOURNESOL No thanks. I like the apps being separate. I only want to catalog my DVD's and not anything else. What the author could do was to make some toolbar buttons for each app that will appear automatically when a user own more than one type of pedia from Brunji. That way you could switch easily between the apps. (Version 4.3)

MOTORCITYMAC This app is so Mac! Easy, fast, powerful, intuitive, and it only gets better with each update. This is quality software far beyond simple shareware. The dedication to details shows, and it sure is appreciated. These are pure six-color Apple codeheads. Love you Bruji! -fellow MacGeek. (Version 4.1.3)
