DESCRIPTION
teleport is a simple prefpane utility to let you use one single mouse and keyboard to control several of your Macs. Simply reach the edge of your screen, and your mouse teleports to your other Mac! The pasteboard can even be synchronized between the computers.

It uses Bonjour to find available hosts. For controlling them, it catches the events of the master computer, sends me on the network using TCP, and uses some native CoreGraphics calls on the slave computer.

WHAT'S NEW
Version 1.0.1:
  • Restored Panther compatibility.
  • Added “unpair” button on paired hosts.
  • Added “shared screen” button when having multiple monitors.
  • Fixed Wake-on-LAN.
  • Fixed zoom with scroll-wheel on shared Mac.
  • Fixed mirroring cursor issue.
  • Fixed some keyboard issues when the controlling Mac is in secure text fields.
  • Fixed connectivity issues and random crashes.
  • Improved version upgrades.
  • Added German, Danish and Czech translations.
REQUIREMENTS
Mac OS X 10.3.9 or later.

UNCOY  If you've looked around at KVM switches you've seen that they are pretty dicey. Either they don't work or are buggy or the video doesn't pass through well.

If you can manage to get your video going into a monitor with multiple inputs (preferably all digital!), you don't need a KVM switch any longer.

Teleport will get you there better and faster, with clipboard switching and file transfer. And it takes all of two minutes (1 minute per Mac to configure - don't forget to have a quick look at the read me on the way)

Unbelievably and very generously, Teleport is donationware.

After the onslaught of crappy and overpriced shareware the Mac has had to put up with in the last couple of years (enough to make one think of switching to Linux), it's nice to see a developer creating high quality donationware.

I sent in $20. I hope others are doing the same.

If Teleport is still running as smoothly in a year, I'll send Julien another donation.  (Version 1.0.1)

    AKROBAT  Brilliant little application.

It's replaced my reliance on DropCopy... which is still fairly good in my opinion.

One thing I noticed is that Drag and Drop from Tiger/Leopard machines to a Jaguar machine and visa versa doesn't seem to work. The option is activated but greyed out in Jaguar.

All in all a great piece of software, and a decent alternative to Remote Desktop if you're the Macs you want to control are closeby.  (Version 1.0.1)

TWISTERMC  This is a great utility, however my mouse keeps getting stuck on the other computer (G5 iMac running 10.3.9)

My main machine is a MacBook Pro running 10.4.11  (Version 1.0.1)

MATTGEE  This program is fantastic. I use it to control a mac media center from my laptop. The latest version adds support for zooming, which was the only flaw I'd encountered.

There is a similar utility called Synergy (not the sync utility of the same name) which is cross platform. But if you're using macs, this is definitely superior. The bonjour support makes it super easy to get started. And the details like drag-and-drop, clipboard syncing, and arranging remote displays are very well executed.  (Version 1.0.1)
