DESCRIPTION
teleport is a simple prefpane utility to let you use one single mouse and keyboard to control several of your Macs. Simply reach the edge of your screen, and your mouse teleports to your other Mac! The pasteboard can even be synchronized between the computers.
It uses Bonjour to find available hosts.
For controlling them, it catches the events of the master computer, sends me on the network using TCP, and uses some native CoreGraphics calls on the slave computer.
WHAT'S NEW
Version 1.0.2:
- Added SnowLeopard compatibility.
- Fixed a few minor issues.
REQUIREMENTS
Mac OS X 10.3.9 or later.

TOMIS It should be noted that teleport 1.0.2 is Intel only. For PPC users, Teleport 1..0.1 can be downloaded from the author's website: http://www.abyssoft.com/software/teleport/downloads/teleport101.zip (Version 1.0.2)

ASMEURER This works great, except there are two bugs that bother me quite a bit. First, the mouse occaisionally will dissappear on the controling computer. Click will make it reappear, but it is still quite annoying as you can imagine. Second, when double tap is enabled, moving the mouse to the top of the screen and clicking causes the foreground window to move into the background instead of click on the menubar as expected. UNCOY If you've looked around at KVM switches you've seen that they are pretty dicey. Either they don't work or are buggy or the video doesn't pass through well. If you can manage to get your video going into a monitor with multiple inputs (preferably all digital!), you don't need a KVM switch any longer. Teleport will get you there better and faster, with clipboard switching and file transfer. And it takes all of two minutes (1 minute per Mac to configure - don't forget to have a quick look at the read me on the way) Unbelievably and very generously, Teleport is donationware. After the onslaught of crappy and overpriced shareware the Mac has had to put up with in the last couple of years (enough to make one think of switching to Linux), it's nice to see a developer creating high quality donationware. I sent in $20. I hope others are doing the same. If Teleport is still running as smoothly in a year, I'll send Julien another donation. (Version 1.0.1)

SMTIPS A couple of observations: First, the documentation doesn't describe anywhere what the physical connections of the macs are supposed to be. It just basically says...install the software and you can control two macs. Well how, exactly? This isn't a simplistic question...how does this work? Across the net, do I need both computers plugged into a router, do I need KVM hardware or what? Please explain to a newbie "mac-sharer" in detail exactly what I need to do to use this software, from step one as if I didn't know a thing. STARTING with how to physically connect my macs to make your software work. Second, in the read me it says: "Note: File transfers are limited to 512M." That is really, really unfortunate. Many files, such as divx movies and just complete folders full of music, are way bigger than 512 megs. This seems worse to me than the 1-gb file size limit in Mac OS 9. Do you have any plans to get around whatever is causing this limit in your application? (Version 1.0.1)

You have a MacBook and an iMac SIDE BY SIDE, each one with its own built-in display and a keyboard. You are sitting IN FRONT OF both displays. The goal is that you want to work on both Macs simultaneously somehow. Without Teleport, in order to work on your OTHER Mac you need to "switch" physically by moving your hands to the other keyboard/trackpad/mouse. With Teleport, you keep your hands on ONE Mac. You only "beam" your pointer/keyboard input to your other Mac via network connection. In other words: Teleport ONLY makes sense if you have DIRECT VISUAL CONTROL of all your Macs' displays. It is your VIRTUAL KVM switch. For other networking uses Teleport is likely the wrong tool. Use VNC, Personal File Sharing or whatever method fits best. E.g. for transferring >1GB files you likely might want to try Personal File Sharing first... (Version 1.0.1)

SHATFIELD After messing with Synergy on the PC platform, this was like a breath of fresh air, just like working on the MAC platform should be. It was so easy to set up that I had 2 Macs working side by side in less than 20 seconds. Seriously! Very intuitive, very easy, and very well thought out. 5 stars! (Version 1.0.2)

AKROBAT Brilliant little application. It's replaced my reliance on DropCopy... which is still fairly good in my opinion. One thing I noticed is that Drag and Drop from Tiger/Leopard machines to a Jaguar machine and visa versa doesn't seem to work. The option is activated but greyed out in Jaguar. All in all a great piece of software, and a decent alternative to Remote Desktop if you're the Macs you want to control are closeby. (Version 1.0.1)

TWISTERMC This is a great utility, however my mouse keeps getting stuck on the other computer (G5 iMac running 10.3.9) My main machine is a MacBook Pro running 10.4.11 (Version 1.0.1)
