A4ANDREW In using this, does anyone know if Time Machine will show a network share as a possible TM back up volume even if it isn't a sharepoint? If so, are there any hiccups to look out for? (Version 1.3)

RANDYHARRIS I just started using AutomountMaker 1.3 for SMB network connections on my LAN. It works wonderfully, very easy to setup and it fires up and connects to the network volumes just as it should. I would love to see an internal manager for activating connections upon boot instead of adding the files to my account launch items, but that's a small thing, it does work fine how it is. JM.MARINO My app doesn't try to connect to paypal !!! I hope your computer is not infected by a back door virus. (Version 1.3)

JM.MARINO No, it's not right. With FTP, alias doesn't work fine every time. Some time you are this message : "The alias 'pub' could not be opened, because the original item cannot be found." And you have 4 solutions : 'Delete Alias' - 'Fix Alias' - 'OK' or

well, clearly doing something wrong, as I just tried exactly the same thing for an ftp server, and it worked exactly the same way (I must confess I normally use transmit for ftp, so I hadn't tried it through the finder for a long timer - the finder is a lot faster than it used to be for ftp...)= perfectly. So, so far my method works perfectly for afp, smb, and ftp. These are the only ones I've tried it on, but I'm sure that covers what 95% or more of what other people are doing with servers. I've also just tried all three methods on another machine (eMac, 10.4.4) to check it's not due to some gizmo I've added to my system at some time. it works perfectly there too. I'll happily make some movies to prove to you I'm not making this up. I'll mail you at the addresses provided, and maybe we can have an ichat to see what I'm doing wrong... erm, right. PS, I have no idea what my 'divagation' is, I hope it isn't being rude! ;) (Version 0.9.8)

JM.MARINO AutomountMaker app is the only way to mount efficiently an FTP shared volume. Because alias *don't work fine* with this protocol, it's the only solution... So if you want easy way to mount all type of filesystems you know what to do ! Sorry for WAKAYAMA divagation... (Version 0.9.8)

WAKAYAMA Ok, I'm clearly having a blond day. What's stopping anyone from doing as I do: 1)use the 'connect to server' dialogue to log onto the server (same amount of work as filling in the info in this app) 2) as you are logging in, remember to click the "remember password in keychain" check box 3)once the volume has mounted drag it's icon from a finder window to the desktop (or wherever you like)- an alias is formed. Unmount the volume, then double click the alias. Steve-be-praised, the volume mounts, no paper cuts, no grazed knees. To mount this at log-in, drag the alias icon to the login items tab in the account pane in preferences. Wash hands, and repeat as necessary for other volumes. If you want to really impress your friends and make sure the volumes are always mounted, create a cronjob to open the alias. It's great that this app is free and all, but who needs MORE gumph clogging up the system? Hope this helps someone out (Version 0.9.8)

USER NAME My sentiments the same. :) But I simply write a plain-text file: afp://loginname:loginpassword@192.168.123.4/Mac%20OS The plainly visible login details is a security risk but heck, I'm the only user on my computer. (Version 1.3)

ANONYMOUS Works fine, but there's a sort of blur between opening a document to edit it and opening a document to perform a load that could be made clearer. Also, I have to be particularly careful since the file extension that you use is a Photoshop extension for Photoshop Monitor setups. Could you change the extension to something unique? (Version 0.9.7)

JMM CODE PARK Extension is not really a problem. It's like '.txt' : you must choose your application to open the type of file. The name of the extension never validated the application which will open it. (Version 0.9.7)

ANONYMOUS works great for me, nice util! no problems. would be nice if there was an option to automatically add the created scripts to your startup items... (Version 0.9.6)
