ANONYMOUS  Hesperides is free and not only transcribes but translates back and forth between english and the sindarin dialect of tolkien's elvish. it also has a cool little feature that adds "transribe into tengwar" to the "services" in the application drop down menu.

    Hesperides is available at http://www.jrrvf.com/hisweloke/sindar/downloads.html

ANONYMOUS  So where are the fonts it needs? And where's a readme?

    Whatever.

I just noticed this isn't freeware. Weird..

2STOOPID  the developer's site requires some sort of registration just to get to the supposedly free support files, like the fonts needed for this app.

might be a cool app, but even the developer's site is not helpful at all in getting this thing up and running.

STEVE JAMIESON  Download Dan Smith's Tengwar fonts at:

    http://www.gis.net/~dansmith/fonts/tengwar.htm or

    http://www.acondia.com/tengwar_fonts/index.html

These are Windows True Type fonts, but they work in Mac OS X

    *½...

ANONYMOUS  Real buggy, drop down menus appear on the other side of the screen, the app flickers when dragging it. This shouldn't be a 2.0 app, it's like an early alpha at best.

GENGHISCOHEN  App won't launch, it complains about no Tengwar fonts installed. If it doesn't provide these fonts, it should state as much.

The documentation provide with the app is very sketchy.
