DESCRIPTION
AuctionGenie manages selling, bidding, tracking, and related activities for auctions listed on the eBay web site at http://www.ebay.com/. You can use it to create and list your own auctions, automate bidding at specified times, track the status of auctions you're interested in (even those for which you have not yet placed bids), prepare transaction reports, send feedback, and manage post-auction transactions such as payment and delivery. It is the most advanced and automated software of its kind for the Macintosh.
AuctionGenie uses templates to define the content of the standard text it creates for inclusion in the boilerplate section of auction listings, in winning-bidder notifications, in feedback messages, and in transaction status reports. It also uses templates to define the different layout styles that can be used when your item is displayed on eBay. You can provide your own templates for complete control over the text that AuctionGenie creates. Furthermore, you can include conditional statements in templates to allow different text to be created depending on the values stored in database fields.
WHAT'S NEW
Version 4.2:
- Several fixes were made to solve problems caused by Snow Leopard (Mac OS X 10.6).
"See item descripton" has been removed as a payment type option because it is no longer allowed by eBay.
- Changes have been made to the documentation to reflect that Dutch auctions with competitive bidding are no longer supported by eBay. If you want to sell multiple identical items in a single listing, you must submit a fixed-price listing (where the Start Price is the same as the Buy It Now Price in the eBay Selling database).
- The insurance fields in the eBay Selling database have been removed because eBay no longer supports insurance options in listings.
- The Border and Featured Plus! options have been removed from the eBay Selling database because eBay no longer supports these features.
- Fixed a problem caused by a recent change to the Safari browser which prevented the "Add New Auction from Browser" command from working. v4.1.5 (27-September-2008)
- Changes were made to reflect the fact that eBay no longer allows payment by check or money order. Payments must be made by PayPal, ProPay, credit or debit card payment to a seller (through a seller's Internet merchant account), or payment upon pickup.
- Changes were made in the Item Info panel in the Detail View of the eBay Selling database to allow you to specify handling time (now required by eBay).
- Changes were made in the Item Info panel in the Detail View of the eBay Selling database for you to specify a returns policy (now required by eBay).
- The Item Info panel in the Detail View of the eBay Selling database has been changed to reflect changes to the eBay gallery system. All items submitted to eBay now get a free gallery photo and the photo is always a scaled version of the first picture file specified in the eBay Selling database. As a result, the redundant Gallery File field has been removed. In addition, the Using Gallery? field has been removed and replaced with a checkbox indicating whether you want the Gallery Plus feature, which provides for a larger gallery picture. eBay charges a 35-cent fee if you use Gallery Plus.
- Listing fees are now shown in a window after you click the Submit Auctions Not Yet Listed button in the AuctionGenie Panel. This gives you a chance to cancel the submission if the fees look unexpectedly high.

ANONYMOUS While the yearly fee is a glaring sore it is amazing how the product gets mediocre reviews and continues to find an audience. There may be a lot to say about gullible newbies and their desire to hit the big time using ebay. (Version 3.4.3)

ANONYMOUS Looks like the author cracked A.I.D ( filemaker ) and did a bad job at it! Hard to read, and repeative times I still could not download the only auction I had running. Once I did, it did not list the current bid.. and wrong shipping info. Too bad A.I.D. is dead .. and I will give this author one star for the effort ... but a zip for design. Good luck eBayers .. SCOTT GARDNER Looks to be comprehensive and well-designed, but the developer confirmed to me that it does not support eBay Store custom categories. (Version 3.4.1)

RAVENG4 Am I the only one not happy with the 40/year fee? I mean why buy a program to upload stuff to ebay if you have to pay a "yearly Subscription." If someone is the occasional seller on ebay this app would definitely not suit them at all. Just my opinion (Version 3.4.1)

ANONYMOUS While the product has lots of features, there are two main problems. First, while it has automatic emailing, it is difficult to predice what it is going to send and which records it will use. The prep for making sure the batch jobs will work the way you want is too much work. Also, date entries don't seem to defaut to "todays" date, therefore every date (and there are many on each record) must be entered by hand. Authors would do well to check out AID 4.2.4 which takes care of these problems, but is no longer supported. (Version 3.3.4)

LUXDUKE Note that you can quickly enter today's date in a date field by clicking the field label. And, yes, this is documented. (Version 3.3.6)

ROBERTS2424 Having found the previous remark about the application "icon" to be juvenile I decided to try out AuctionGenie. Off the bat I must say I wish it were a little more affordable but it does appear to do quite a lot. Even though I haven't figured everything out since it does take a little time to get comfortable I probably will purchase this if it continues to make my Ebay selling easier and more efficient. I'll probably add more comments at a later date. (Version 3.2.5)

ROBERTS2424 Ok, so I've tried this application for approximately 8-10 hours. It's got a steep learning curve. If the interface were cleaned up, consolidated, and rearranged more logically this program could rock. With that said I had trouble getting the application to upload auctions to Ebay. Then, I had to read the documents that accompany the app to find out how to preview my document. The Preview is in a very illogical location. I'm not crazy about the way I have to manuever to see a document previewed either. Next, there are the templates which are so poorly designed that you had better hold on to your hat if you want to try and come up with something better since it has to be laid out with knowledge of HTML. It would behoove everyone if the author would include a dozen or more templates that actually make sense and had nice graphic designs. The manual is really not too bad. But, it could use a solid tutorial from beginning to completion to get everyone started. While it appears to be a Seller's delight it lacks features that an Ebay Buyer can find in Auction Sieve and JBidWatcher. As a longtime Mac user I've always thought that if I couldn't get a program up and running in 30 minutes then it didn't make sense to actually use it. I'm afraid this tends to fall within this category I'm sorry to say. Amazing potential that is currently difficult. (Version 3.2.5)

SPAM ON TOAST see! if, like me, you'd pre-judged auctiongenie by the crappy icon alone, you'd have saved yourself all that time and frustration. maybe there's something to be said for being 'juvenile' after all! (Version 3.3.2)

SPAM ON TOAST i'm sorry - this might be the greatest app in the world, but i'm not going to download something with an icon that looks like it was designed by a retarded 5 year old. (Version 3.2.5)
