Xirc is internet relay chat application. It is a pure Objective-C application only for Mac OS X (Panther and Tiger, Intel compatible) that offer you respect other similar applications an internal programming language that permit you to create complex scripts.
Xirc offer you a plugin support to extend a scripting capabilities or create applications through the IRC engine.
RAZZ The most capable IRC client that I know of is Ircle. All others offer lame capabilities by comparison by limiting user ability to invoke IRC commands directly for instance. (Version 0.9.9)
ANONYMOUS Looks promising, however I'm unable to join any channels on the Austnet IRC network. Information about whatever channel I join is printed in the server window, also any queries from other users go to the server window. Have noticed a couple other clients have this problem too... (Version 0.9.7)
LUCA But Xirc is not only an IRC client!! I don't think that there are better alternatives only because their are free. Xirc implements a true scripting language like "C" (not a criptic language)and permits you to execute Perl snippet code, plus is fully customizable. (Version 0.9.7)
ANONYMOUS This is probably the best IRC app ever for the Mac. This has far more features than the "average" Mac IRC user will ever need.
That being said, it's stable, and fast. I do believe the price is a little much, but the price is based on the feature set.
Perhaps the author might think of a "lite" version for about half the price. Take out all the scripting and other features. Sort of a Mozilla/Firefox type of deal. (Version 0.9.5)
ANONYMOUS Appropriate suggestion! Making a lite version of this app would be really a good idea.. You know, freeware is always tempted and makes people try it out.. (Version 0.9.5)
