DRDUL  xPad is a nice note-taking app. I like how it works with multiple documents, which can be categorized as well. I also like that it can handle inserted images, and export documents in RTF or RTFD formats.

Despite all these nice features, for my purposes it won't replace TextEdit. The main reason is that documents are saved automatically to a folder in ~/Library/Application Support. The only way to save a document elsewhere is to export it, but then I end up with two versions — the one within xPad and the exported version. There's also no option to save documents anywhere other than the default folder. If I could specify a different default folder, I could save documents in my Dropbox, and sync 'em between my Macs.

TXBUY_MAC.COM  Great app ... have really enjoyed it for some time. Only thing missing? Seamless syncing between multiple Mac computers (through .me or other method). I like it ... though with several computers I use (and now used to syncing bookmarks, passwords, and everything else) ... it is very inconvenient to go through all of my computers to find the note.

Does anyone know of a way to sync the xpad notes among all computers?

Thanks.

RENESIS  I take a lot of quick notes, I have bad memory, and I'm a neat freak. xPad to the rescue. xPad saves me the clutter of multiple text files, stores them all in one place, and allows me to access them quickly and easily. Apple should pay this guy and incorporate it in future os x releases.

UBUNTUKING  This is a fantastic note taking application. I am glad to see that version 1.2.6 fixes the leopard incompatibilities.

RICKEY939  Not all of the Leopard issues are fixed. There are some weird visual things happening when you switch from note to note on the right pane...at least they don't disappear now in this version, but visually it's borked.

JBARLEY  It appears, at least on my MBP, that Leopard has broke xPad.

It will load and run, but when I start selecting messages from the list in the drawer, things begin to fall apart.

Most evident is, as I select each title, it disappears from the list, annoying to say the least.

WATMAN  xPad is as transparent as an app gets. I do page layout in Pages, but I do all my freelance writing in xPad – it's quick, the drawer is indispensable, the colour-coding handles my organizing, the drop-down Get Info pane provides a wordcount, and the elegant/functional look satisfies the aesthete in me. Throw in autosave, and you've got one killer (free!) app.

Prior to xPad, I tried out CopyWrite and a host of dedicated writer tools. This is the only one that stuck.

BLUEMANSTEELE  When you need to just jot a quick note you can open TextEdit, however, where do you save it? If you make 20 quick notes where do you save and manage those? It gets to be a mess fast.

If you are like me and need to write quick but separate and organized notes, XPad works perfectly.

It can change the whole way you work, I write many small notes that I need to be able to find later. I also need to be able to find old note and toss them. This has been a pain in any other software.

When a note begins to grow into a full document, you can export one or all of your notes to RTF or plain text and go from there.

This has been a great app and I use it every day. There are some terrific software for huge documents such as books or screen plays, but making many small documents has been overlooked.

I'd used something similar on PC and glad to have someting on my Mac now.

SAMANTHA MEAGAN  No matter what I do I still can not get xPad 1.2.5 disk image to mount. I create A LOT of text documents and I think I would find it very useful. Is it at all possible for someone to download it, mount the disk image and then email me the folder with the app it self and any other stuff that comes with it? If this is possible AND if someone would not mind doing this for me, just let me know. I would really appreciate it. Thank you.

SAMANTHA MEAGAN  I think this looks like a really great app and would love to try it since I do so much with documents. The only problem is no matter where I download version 1.2.5 the .dmg file will not mount. I keep getting an error message saying: "xPad_1.2.5.dmg" failed to mount due to error 95, (no mountable file systems). No matter what I do the file will not mount. I have emailed the developer almost a month ago, with no reply yet. Is this something the developer needs to fix or is there a way for me to troubleshoot it and get it to mount? I have Mac OS X 10.2.8 so it should be compatible. I'd really love to try out this app. Anyone have any suggestions? Thanks.

MACUPDATE ADMIN  Well, I just downloaded the file and unzipped it and the .dmg mounted, no problem. You might try using a different browser to download the file.

MACUPDATE ADMIN  Maybe running some system utilties to clean up your installation of OS X would help. Can't hurt and it is a good place to start. You can use AppleJack to perform all needed repair/maintenance/clean up routines. It is easy to use just be sure to read a little about it first. You'll want to use AppleJack's "applejack auto restart" command procedure.
