DESCRIPTION
VoodooPad Lite is the stripped-down free version of VoodooPad. VoodooPad is a new kind of notepad. It's like having your own digital junk drawer, where you can jot down notes, web addresses, to-do lists... Anything on your mind. VoodooPad automatically links each page together, to form a miniature world wide web just for you! Anybody familiar with WikiWikiWeb will feel right at home with VoodooPad. Type in your notes, and highlight important words or phrases to create new pages; or drag and drop folders, applications, or URLs into VoodooPad - they're linked up whenever the word representing it is found.
WHAT'S NEW
Version 4.2.2:
- Fixed a problem where the web server wasn't working properly in VoodooPad.
- Fixed a bug where pages would remain listed in the tags list, even after they were deleted.
- When you search for something in VP, it now puts the search term on the search pasteboard, so cmd-g works to "find again" in your search results.
- When doing a Web Export via AppleScript, VoodooPad now closes the export window after it's finished writing all files.
REQUIREMENTS
Mac OS X 10.5 or later.

PENGUIRL Regardless of what an app's MU page says about compatibility, an auto updater should not update to a version that is not compatible with the installed operating system, or at an absolute minimum make it clear what the minimum system requirements are. You should not have to go to MU or the developers site first to check the system requirements before allowing the auto updater to run. (Why do so many Leopard users have pompous attitudes toward Tiger users???) (Version 4.2.2)

LAINE On my system VoodooPad Lite documents are not directly indexable by Spotlight. VoodooPad Lite makes up for this drawback by creating its own Spotlight index files in ~/Library/Metadata/VoodooPad. However, in this version of VoodooPad Lite, these indexes are deleted whenever the corresponding VoodooPad Lite document is closed. I used Sandbox in Leopard to implement an ACL rule to deny deletion for items in this folder to the user so that I can continue to perform Spotlight searches for VoodooPad lite content whether or not the application or the associated documents are open. I'll have to test a bit more to see how this ultimately works out. (Version 4.0.4)

LAINE The specified folder should have been "~/Library/Caches/Metadata/VoodooPad", of course. Sorry. (Version 4.0.4)

DEREKCURRIE Note that the version 3.5.2 of Voodoo Pad Lite is too stupid to realize that version 4.0 is NOT compatible with Mac OS X 10.4.11. Sadly the installer is ALSO too stupid to check what version of Mac OS X it is installing into and happily wipes out your good copy so it can replace it with a worthless copy of 4.0, totally screwing over your ability to use the program in 10.4. I have written the developer about their bugs. It is great that this excellent program is provided for free. But self-sabotaging programs are not tolerable. :-P (Version 4.0)

MUSUBANA This used to be the king of personal wikies. How bad the developer decided to abandon all the Tiger users. (Version 4.0)

FONIK First, a few gripes: - The link button is right next to the home button. I use it for a good 3 hours a day minimum (email tech support job :/) so I can wind up with links for random words all over the place. - Requiring the purchase of the full version to save in some more portable formats? That's a little underhanded. I guess they have to make money somehow. - "Check Spelling While Typing" must be set individually for every page and defaults to off. C'mon, if I turn on the spell checker I want it to STAY on. Am I missing a setting? Besides that, GREAT product. My email productivity has been boosted to superhuman levels since I started using this to keep track of customers, bugs and common replies. (Version 3.5.1)

SIMICHAVEL A helpful addition would be the option to send note as an email. Or did I miss that somewhere? (Version 3.2)

COPILOTO VoodooPad is just incredible! I've been using this Lite Version for a while and I wish I could buy the full version -- I'm a poor grad student, so... =( I use it mainly as a journal for personal notes and random thoughts. I love the free form that VP allows, never trying to impose a certain way to its user. It is a "zen" application, it adapts to you. I strongly recommend it. (Version 3.1.4)

BILLWEST VoodooPad Lite ---Free version --Can link and include all kinds of pics and things to our text. Email pals say we can launch everything --all iLife is linked to VdP. Editor and toolbar appearance. Outstanding application --for OSX --as BBEdit Lite was for OS7-9. LINK stand alone files. Open with VoodooPad. Note truly a note pad --more of editor with effective Open Recent. Own kind of excellent SEARCH of opened document. Email sending is even my Mail.app. Also all Services work -- Will do Services/Mail/Send Selection only if Mail.app is already open. Has own Services selection --Append to Services Drop page and Make New Page. This is one of four of 46 demo-ed OSX note pads --that I most often use --and have the most dot.vdoc files on my hard drive. With Notational Velocity, Journler, and MacJournal. Database location --as much editor as special note pad. All compositions are saved to hard drive file. My Library/Cache is empty. As good an editor as a special note pad --so --unlike classic note pads --VdP has a host of our Open/SaveAs/Insert/Import/Export actions. File menu has 3 different Opens, 2 Saves, 2 Exports, 1 import. Edit menu has 3 pastes, Append Selection and more. More plugins are being offered daily. Makes a note pad lover --with it's limited Read Ins and Write Outs --burst into tears. :) (Version 3.1.3)
