KKRIMMER  Someone said Money had "potential"... don't need an accounting program with potential, attracted to the interface but find tinybooks just plain works (with a look of 1980s software)...

Maybe try next version, like the look.

RAIMIS  As most users, I have tried many similar apps before settling on this one.

Money was the first application that was able to configure the csv file to be imported (almost) correctly. It took a bit of cleaning afterwards, however. The import feature takes every comma as a field separator, even if the comma is in a text field enclosed with quotes. It would be better, if importing would work the way it works in in Bento.

I use Money a simple expense tracking/analysis application, and it does the job nicely. I have used the trial period to its fullest, and bought the app without hesitation afterwards. It never crashed, and the user interface is pleasing. I would love to see the reports feature somewhat more fancy (iFinance comes to mind), but it works nicely.

Categories/subcategories approach is simple and intuitive, you can add categories/subcategories on the fly. Excellent thing is the Spotlight-like search feature that helps filter the records and find the information quickly. It works somewhat slowly with more than 20 thousand records, but the simple solution I have found is to split the whole bookkeeping into yearly accounts.

Overal I find Money very simple and intuitive to use, with enough features for a home budgeting needs and pretty interface. It is a stable and reliable application. I have not tried their support, as there was no need for it yet.

MILPAT  It's the second time that I give 'money' from jumsoft a try. I'm looking for a Quicken replacement like lots of people !!!

The first time, I couldn't schedule my paycheck because there was no schedule option for peoples that are paid every other week (meaning each two weeks). So this option was missing then ... what's the use of a finance software if you can't schedule your paycheck ?

The second time, after seen that the 'Every other week' has been added, I tried to schedule my mortgage ... unfortunately, this apps only compute mortgage for the US ... and I'm not living in the US ... tried to contact the support ... it's been a month now and still no answer from them !!!

I did my research on the web ... it seems that these guy (Jumsoft) doesn't offer very good support ... I'm not the only one in this situation ... from what I read, I wouldn't recommend buying any software from this company.

JUMSOFT  Hello MALPAT,

Thanks for your comment.

I agree there were problems with support a couple of years ago. Since then there were many changes in Jumsoft and now replies to users feedbacks are sent within 24 hours during workdays.

I am sorry if you haven't received an answer, that means we didn't receive your email. Can you please resend it to info@jumsoft.com?

GERRIT KRUIJER  Have tried the version that comes with MacFormat (version 2.5.9) but had a problem when importing from Ibank. Data could not be saved. Multiple validation errors occurred, but no explanation what could be wrong.

Cannot find any misstakes.

Also, it would be nice to reconcile all transactions at once (tried to import a half year).

I don't want to lose the information i have gathered.

JUMSOFT  Hello Gerrit,

For troubleshooting saving problem we would need more info - what type of file it was, etc.

Also there is a newer Money version - 3.x. There were many improvements compared to 2.x - with saving and import features. If you are on Leopard I suggest trying it.

There is a possibility to reconcile multiple transactions just with one button click. LEt us know if you are still having problems with save or something else?

LUPOWILK  I recently bought this app. I give it a high 4,5 star. The missing of 0,5 are for some options wich are missing for me (like in investment tool i cannot add stock from my country).

What i like:

- nice interface

- easy to use (you will be able to work with this program very just few minutes after you use it)

- budgeting is well done, there's a lot of categories which can be edited.

- it can be used for tracking you small business (cause it has invoicing options) as well as Yo home finances

- i really love all the option of tagging with different colors all the money flows

- auto-reports based on You settings

- pricing is good.

If You are looking for an easy to manage, functional program to manage Your finances, i recommend to try it first. But You will love it. (i recommend buying the business bundle wit other two good apps - they are worth!)

I recommed it

DOUG.SHUMAN  By far one of the best available personal finance programs for the Mac, and I've tried them all. Easy to use, updated regularly, and development responds promptly to email. While other similar packages focus exclusively on appearance, Money balances functionality with aesthetics to create a pleasing package sure to please the user.

ALEX B  I really wanted to like this app, but just like everyone else, it simply doesn't do what it should.

Just like the HUNDREDS of poor fools that purchased Cha-Ching only to find it barely did what it said it would, I found myself in the same situation here.

It has a nice interface, but it is lacking features I would really like that other money apps have and the features it does have fail to work properly.

I wanted this app to do what Debtinator does with managing future expenses and the way data is entered, with the simplicity of Cha-Ching and the reports of iBank. As well as retaining its current interface. I wonder how long it would take to build such an app myself.

If you are a skilled developer and have unlimited time to devote to the project, figure on 1 to 2 years. If not a skilled developer, 3 years plus, and if not programming full-time it might be 4 years. Undoubtedly these time frames are too long for most to self-develop, but one-person development takes lots of time. I would suggest encouraging the developers with incentives instead of bludgeoning them in public. While I have little sympathy for unresponsive developers, I also believe developers want the financial reward that is often unreachable selling shareware at $39 USD.

Disclosure: I'm a Mac developer and a software engineer for over 35 years, but I am not affiliated with the "Money" software in any way.

ROTH  I'm not saying this program isn't aesthetically pleasing, because it is. But what is interesting about a lot of finance applications, especially this one, is the need to copy iTunes.

This program lacks its own identity.
