DESCRIPTION
MatrixGL is a semi-3D Matrix screensaver with a different approach to the Matrix; instead of having a simple matrix of glyphs, the screensaver arranges the glyphs in streams, which fall down independently of each other and glow upon intersecting with each other. Features: - Fully independent streams that render a more complex display than simple matrix-based screensavers.
- Ability to change the glyphs to be any color.
- Smooth framerate functionality that automatically adjusts the complexity of the screensaver to suit the current amount of CPU power available. This can be set to draw an infinite amount of streams, if the computer can handle that many.
- Subtle, specially formed statistics streams that display the current polycount and framerate of the screensaver.
- Glyph size can be altered from 8x8 to 64x64, and four glyph sets are included.
- Sample <3 image displaying the capability of the registered picture showing feature.
Registered features: - Option to connect the current network speed to stream glyph speed; has the effect of speeding up the screensaver in times of high network activity.
- Transparency, which displays the glyphs transparently over the desktop in real time.
- Log file showing, which monitors a log file and displays its updates to the screen as streams.
- Glyph color cycling over time, with customizable time settings.
- Reversed and upside-down mode.
- Ability to change the background color, and link it to the glyph color. (used when color cycling is enabled) When transparency mode is enabled, the user can modify the alpha value of the background color.
- Can play movies, display pictures, and monitor webcams within the glyphs.
- Message showing, which displays random messages that can be customized with the date, time, user name, and computer name.

PHAKEBRILL I couldn't agree more. This screensaver is THE BEST MATRIX SCREENSAVER AVAILABLE. I still have it at work since we haven't upgraded to snow leopard yet but I'm missing it sorely at home. PLEASE UPDATE IT! (Version 2.2 Beta 3)

RADARNAV Couldn't get to load in 10.6. Tried it on an upgrade and on a clean install, and it will not load manually or automatically. However, worked great in 10.5 - it was (and will be again) my favorite screen saver. (Version 2.2 Beta 3)

ERIC WOEHLER works excellently under SL. Better graphics and more controls have resulted in an excellent screen saver. Tried it and paid the fee within 5 minutes. Recommend to all to try and buy!! (Version 2.2 Beta 3)

HAL0THANE Unfortunately, there are a few things MatrixGL still did better than 3D Matrix Code -- although I don't personally miss support for side-scrolling on network activity, that's something others might have used. MatrixGL also allowed embedding live iSight input in the stream -- not something I used, but was wicked cool. One thing that I personally find lacking though is the support for embedding images in the output. MatrixGL did a simply smashing job of displaying any image you throw at it in a way that it's completely visible when set to the narrowest glyphs and the densest lines. 3D Matrix Code, unfortunately, only hints at the image. MatrixGL allowed for monochrome image rendering, and, so far as I can tell, 3D Matrix Code doesn't. One thing it does have going for it, though, is that it incorporates a "Ken Burns" effect for moving an image through the code, something really awesome to behold. But I still miss MatrixGL. JOHNVILLA99 This is probably one of the better Matrix code screen savers out there. It works good on a split monitor system. However, I've got two video cards that provide for four screens. The application crashes every time. I don't know if it's because I've got two cards or because the code didn't account for four screens. Either way, I can confirm it works on two monitors. DNEM41 This is the real deal. You can have the classic 'Matrix' look or you can completely customize everything about it to show iTunes artwork or whatever you want. (Version 2.2b3)
