DESCRIPTION
Yasu was originally created with System Administrators who service large groups of workstations in mind, Yasu (Yet Another System Utility) was made to do a specific group of maintenance tasks quickly within a few clicks, rather than needing to endlessly type shell script commands in the Terminal application.

Yasu allows system administrators, as well as the average user, to conveniently run various system level Unix shell scripts in order to perform maintenance routines and clear the many cache files used by OS X. Yasu was designed to be a simple, first line of attack for a workstation that has started "acting up." More often than not, a thorough purge of the cache files of a Mac will bring its behavior back into line.

SATCOMER  Yasu is still the best to use in Snow Leopard. I love how the developer keeps up on this donationware and I love his support. If more developers took his cue the Mac would have the very best shareware anywhere.

MARKH  YASU is a wonderful utility that I use and recommend to all my Mac clients. I put it in the Dock of every Mac I work on, along with Disk Utility and SuperDuper!

I just saw a review by PCESSNA that infuriates me and demands this response:

PCESSNA's comments: "I can't believe you'd put a price tag." YASU has had a "Friend of YASU" suggested donation of $3.50 for several years. That is a complete bargain.

PCESSNA goes on to say, "I was going to donate like 10-15 bucks. . ." Really? Why hadn't you done so already?

PCESSNA continues with "I'll support your app again." Again? What support have you given -- EVER?

Finally, PCESSNA says, "Until then, I hope you stop getting support by anyone as well." This sounds like something a vindictive little cheapskate might say. Not PCESSNA, of course.

PCESSNA  I was like yes, another update of good old Yasu for snow leopard. When I saw the price tag, I said forget this.

To Dev: I can't believe you'd put a price tag. I mean 3 bucks? I was going to donate like 10-15 bucks for your hard work and effort, but forget you, please come to your senses and remove this price tag and I'll support your app again. Until then, I hope you stop getting support by anyone as well.

Thanks :)

PAUL ROBERTS  If I were the developer I would blacklist you from ever downloading my ap again. Your comments made no sense..."I was going to donate $10-15, but since you now ask for a $3 donation, I resent that and will not support your application and hope that no on else will..."

You really need to get a life and learn how to respect other people, especially those who have provided you with a free product in the past. It's well within the dev's right to charge whatever they want to.

If I were MacUpdate, I would send you a warning or even better disable your account for 3 or more months. You really don't deserve to be among us.

JIMMITCHELL  The main download link seems to be okay (tried it myself), but yes, the link for version 1.0.3 for Jaguar/Panther is wrong. Since there's no way to change that via the app listing page, here's the correct link for Yasu 1.0.3:

HARRY G.  For my purposes, this is still the best maintenance utility around: fast, reliable and with a very clean and well-designed user interface. I can only recommend it.

ERRORR  Wish there is a way to know which action will require a restart for time when I don't want a cause a restart, like when I am away from the computer for 10 minutes. Playing mouse chasing over every action is counter productive

JIMMITCHELL  Perhaps a quick read of the Help file is in order -- specifically "Running Yasu as an Administrator" -- it outlines which tasks require a restart.

LOKHEED  @Dev

Perhaps adding an icon (ala Software Update) would be an elegant and viable solution, rather than telling the user to RTFM... Just a thought.

JIMMITCHELL  Keychain access is going be removed from Yasu 2.0.1 this evening (9/21). Though I haven't been able to reproduce it myself, there have been reports of an issue that corrupts the login keychain. I take the report seriously and I will work to resolve it as soon as possible.

In the mean time, it is recommended that users not store their passwords in the keychain. For those who have, I would suggest you remove the Yasu entry from your login keychain using the Keychain Access application located in your Utilities folder.
